Optoma Announces Brighter HD Home Theater Projector

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 02 May 2012 Release date- 01052012 - FREMONT, Calif. - Optoma, the best-selling brand of DLP projectors in the Americas, has announced the U.S. launch of its new, brighter HD23 home theater projector, which will be sold in-store and online exclusively through leading big box retailer, Best Buy.

The HD23, a 2500 ANSI lumen, full 1080p projector will carry a price of $999, and will be available in May.

'The increased brightness of the HD23 gives end-users much more flexibility regarding setting this up in their homes,' said Jon Grodem, Optoma's senior director of product and marketing. 'Not all home theater environments can enjoy complete darkness, and the added power fulfills this type of need.' 'It's been Optoma's goal to fulfill both its partners' and end-users' needs.' The HD23 delivers a contrast ratio of 5,000:1 and offers many of the features found on more expensive home theater projectors. Based on Texas Instruments' 1080p DLP chipset, and BrilliantColor technology, this new projector offers the connectivity necessary to meet most consumer's needs. Two HDMI inputs allow users to connect to more than one device at a time, such as their cable/satellite receiver, Blu-ray DVD player, or video gaming console. It also provides VGA, component and composite video inputs for connection to other devices, as well as a 12v trigger to signal other components to turn on/off.

The HD23 operates at a native 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), while also being compatible with most computer formats, such as UXGA, WXGA, SXGA+, SXGA, XGA, SVGA, VGA resized, VESA, PC and Macintosh, and it can also accept common global video inputs and video formats up to 1080p (HDTV, EDTV, SDTV, NTSC, PAL, SECAM).

Like all Optoma projectors, the HD23's DLP engine operates without filters, keeping ownership and maintenance costs low while ensuring consistent performance throughout the projector's life. The projection lamp is rated to last up to 4000 hours in standard mode or 3000 hours in bright mode. The HD23 also incorporates a rapid shutdown feature that further reduces energy costs, and it comes with a one-year parts and labor warranty, with the lamp being covered for 90 days.

Weighing only 6.4 pounds, the HD23 is either table or ceiling-mountable, which gives consumers flexibility with how they use the projector. The HD23 operates quietly at 29db and is equipped with a remote control (with batteries) that has backlit illumination for user convenience in dark room viewing.
