Openwave Messaging Launches as Private Company

Openwave (News - Alert) Messaging Inc., a leading global provider of next generation converged messaging solutions, today announced the finalization of its acquisition by Marlin Equity Partners. The company will operate as a new private company and will be led by Sean MacNeill as chief executive officer. MacNeill most recently held the position of senior vice president and general manager for the Messaging Business Unit for Openwave Systems (News - Alert) (now known as Unwired Planet).

MacNeill has nearly 20 years of industry experience in the areas of general management, strategic planning, product management, engineering, sales and operations. Prior to his role as CEO of Openwave Messaging, MacNeill served as GM of the Openwave Messaging Business Unit for Openwave Systems, and held several other executive positions there as well. Prior to joining Openwave Systems, MacNeill spent seven years at Dynavar Corporation, an integrated communication solutions developer to service providers and large enterprises, where he last served as president and chief operating officer. Before Dynavar, MacNeill held a variety of management positions in sales, marketing, and operations for such companies as Vocalscape Communications, a VoIP software developer, and Intrinsyc Software (News - Alert), Inc., a mobility software and services company. MacNeill holds a B.A. with distinction and an M.B.A. from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.
