Online ad sector to govern itself

Samantha Yorke, the incoming director of regulatory affairs at the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), has identified privacy, advertising standards and self-regulation as the key issues for the online advertising industry. She has flagged a possible move to adopt a self-regulation system for online content, noting that other forms of media have operated under such a regime for a long time. The IAB forecasts that online advertising expenditure will exceed $A3bn in 2012.
