Observable Networks Issued US Patent #9,060,014

ST. LOUIS, July 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Observable Networks, an emerging leader of network security technology and advanced threat detection services, announced today the issuance to it by the US Patent Office of a patent that covers the dynamic endpoint modeling IT solution that helps organizations modernize their cybersecurity monitoring capabilities.

The patent for invention number 9,060,014 is for the system and method for tracking the role and behavior of network-connected devices through the use of modeling techniques. This approach represents a breakthrough capability for establishing and maintaining a concrete representation of normal device behavior, so that threats can be accurately and concisely identified as deviations from legitimate behavior. Moreover, endpoint modeling is future-proof with respect to the use of encryption, device proliferation, growth in machine-generated log data, and sophisticated threats.

"Our new standard for IT security monitoring has yielded welcome security improvement for clients in the healthcare industry, energy companies, legal institutions and large corporations. We have shown the ability to dynamically model thousands of devices across complex IT and operations technology (OT) networks, public and private cloud environments, and critical infrastructure environments in real time, providing a 360 degree picture of device behavir across their networks," said Bryan Doerr, CEO of Observable Networks. "Under the guidance of CTO and Founder Dr. Patrick Crowley, our engineers and data scientists are continuing to enhance Observable's endpoint modeling technology and creating a commercial security service offer valuable to small and large organizations."

Observable Networks entered the IT security market in April 2014, empowering organizations to readily understand normal and abnormal device behaviors on their networks. Observable's endpoint modeling technology and cloud-based service platform uses real-time traffic sensors and automated security analytics to continuously model all devices on networks of any size.  Observable's solution is indifferent to encryption and does not require recognition of threat signatures.

With no specialized hardware to purchase and no software agents to deploy, Observable's service is available as a cost-effective software-as-a-service (SaaS) subscription, which greatly simplifies and speeds deployment. With scalability ranging from dozens to millions of devices, it is a crucial threat detector for any organization - providing a significant leap forward to a stronger security posture compared to traditional approaches.
