Object Management Group Announces Special Events Program for Q3 Member Meeting in New Orleans, September 25-29


The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, today announced its Special Events program will be held during the OMG Technical Committee (TC) meeting from September 25-29, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Registration for the Special Events program is open to the public. Media can register for a complimentary press pass using the code TCLAP17. The program is supported by OMG annual sponsors, No Magic, Orbus Software, RTI, and Sparx Systems.

The Special Events program will showcase OMG standards in real-world applications such as cybersecurity, IIoT, healthcare and oil and gas. The schedule for the week is as follows:

Monday September 25 Special Events
In the morning, Dr. Jon Siegel, OMG Vice President, Technology Transfer, will present the OMG Modeling and Middleware Specifications Tutorial. On the same day from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, the Executable UML® Demo and Road Map ? Meet and Greet event will feature a complimentary, informal reception for the UML user community to learn about the growing suite of OMG Executable UML specifications. A demonstration of standards-based executable modeling in UML will also take place. Refreshments will be served. The event is complimentary but registration is required.

Tuesday September 26 Special Event
Parties interested in resolving data residency issues are welcome to attend the Data Residency: Status, Challenges and Standards tutorial and roundtable. Members of the OMG and the Cloud Standards Customer Council™ will also present a joint paper that analyzes and documents the challenges posed by data residency. The event is complimentary but registration is required.



Wednesday September 27 Special Events
Experts from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology will demonstrate a pregnancy pilot use case based on OMG business process modeling standards. The fee for the day-long Business Process Modeling in Health Workshop is $149 USD and registration is required. Workshop attendees are also invited to join the OMG Healthcare Committee Meeting on September 26 for an in-depth discussion about OMG healthcare standards work. The add-in option costs an additional $99 USD.

The OMG Data-Distribution Service™ (DDS™) Special Interest Group will present a live demonstration of interoperability between multiple DDS implementations from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. The DDS Security Interoperability Demo event is complimentary but registration is required.


In the afternoon, the OMG Standards at Work in the IIoT: Focus on Oil and Gas special event will take place from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Industry experts will explain how the OMG ecosystem of modeling and middleware standards can transform and innovate Upstream Oil and Gas operations. The event is complimentary but registration is required.

Thursday September 28 Special Event
Scheduled from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, the OMG Cybersecurity Workshop will bring together practitioners developing IT standards targeted at the security engineering lifecycle and the digital transformation of business operations. Attendees will learn how to plan for, budget, and reduce costs associated with building and acquiring secure and resilient software. The cost is $149 USD and registration is required.

Registration Information
All Special Events (including complimentary) require advance registration. The $950 USD registration for the full OMG TC Meeting week is for members only and includes all Special Event daily fees. The early-bird discount of $100 USD expires on August 18, 2017. Separate registration fees apply for the OMG Cybersecurity Workshop and the Business Process Modeling in Health Workshop for attendees who do not register for the TC meeting week.
