Oberthur Technologies Recognizes Its 1 Millionth Electronic PIN Issuance by SMS

Nov 09, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Oberthur Technologies, providers of security, identification solutions and services based on smart card technologies, recently recognized its delivery of the one millionth PIN code to cardholders.

According to a release, the PIN by SMS service launched in 2010, is the simple transmission of a PIN code to the cardholder by SMS. This environmentally-friendly PIN issuance method provides card issuers with the key benefits of a quicker, safer and more efficient method of transmission compared to paper mail, thus offering financial savings in handling, printing and postage. The card issuers can also track the progress of the PIN request to ensure a successful delivery.

Oberthur Technologies has developed issuance via SMS, Interactive Voice Response (IVR) or Internet, enabling multiple needs to be met; first PIN issuance, re-issuance of a PIN, PIN selection and card activation.

"We provide the PIN by SMS service to customers in over 10 countries around the world," said Cedric Collomb, Cards & Services General Manager at Oberthur Technologies. "In this digital age, Oberthur Technologies has gained the trust of many clients for its Smart PIN service, built with security and flexibility in mind both for issuer and cardholder."
