NOVUS: Reimagine The American Dream

SAN FRANCISCO, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Battery, San Francisco hosted a game-changing delegation featuring world-renowned entrepreneurs, artists, and performers, to Reimagine the American Dream. Iconic Silicon Valley investors Tim Draper and Naveen Jain kicked off NOVUS addressing the impact of exponential technologies internationally. NOVUS works to Reimagine the American Dream in the global realm. "America gave me strength and a chance at the pursuit of happiness at a point in my life when my Motherland didn't know what to do with a person like me," began Kunal Sood, a founding principal of NOVUS, "You don't have to be American to believe in the power of this dream. This dream of a better life is alive in every person in the world who takes action to live with purpose and be of service to other human beings."

Kunal Sood and Vishal Gurbuxani, the founding principals, launched the day by calling NOVUS an 'action tank', encouraging everyone in the room to reimagine the American Dream as a global phenomenon, not just a national sentiment. NOVUS brings the lens of Governance to the Bay Area and lays it over the existing technology and innovation bedrock, highlighting exceptional people and their work. Sonia Arrison and Joon Yun discussed "curing aging", and "aging as a disease". Longevity will change everything and alter the number of years we as a species devote to careers and relationship, due to the ever-increasing role of technology in our lives.

Everything is changing, including the role of Government. Tim Draper discussed how Government spent 7 percent of the economy in his grandfather's time. 22 Percent in his father's time. Now, 50 percent of the economy is spent by Government. Indeed, entrepreneurs are living at a point in time to effect great change for the country while improving quality of life while reducing spending.

NOVUS was a sold-out event in 2015. Important questions will be explored at the NOVUS 2016 conference addressing the intersection of national governance, global impact, and exponential technology. We believe the American Dream is a human right as well as a responsibility for all human beings. NOVUS is inspired by many other movements and designs its format—which features people spotlighting "Reimagine the American Dream" in 8-to-22-minute segments— focused on the GIFTED model. Indeed, GIFTED stands for: Governance, Impact, Finance, Technology, Entertainment, and Design. This work is championed by the NOVUS CORE, including, Shahar Nechmad, Sarika Batra, Laura Muranaka, Nimay Parekh, Sony Mordechai, Carolina Pina, Krishna Subramanian, and Toni Alejandria.

Two NOVUS 2015 featured delegates:

Raghava KK: Named by CNN as one of the 10 most remarkable people of 2010, Raghava is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller. Having quit formal education at the age of 18 to start his career as a newspaper cartoonist, Raghava is today considered one of India's most successful young artists. He is the Founder of Flipsicle.

Martha Adams: Producer of the film at the center of the Girl Rising campaign; she is now the Chief Creative Officer and was featured in 2013 by Newsweek/Daily Beast as one of "125 Women of Impact."

NOVUS is a platform devoted to Reimagining the American Dream. NOVUS launched in 2015 as a conference bringing together people from the GIFTED world: Governance, Impact, Finance, Technology, Entertainment, and Design. We believe passionately in the power of action to change lives, and ultimately, the world.
