Novus Expands Microsoft ® Lync ® Partner Portfolio, Builds Lync Services Business


Nine months after achieving the Microsoft Gold Communications Competency, the telecommunications distributor continues to build its Lync services business, adding Lync products to portfolio Fairfield, CT (December 3, 2014) – Novus, a distributor of telecommunications and IP equipment, has added several Lync qualified products from leading device and hardware manufacturers to its portfolio and has begun building a Lync services business, all in an effort to meet the fast growing demand for Microsoft Lync.



In January, Novus achieved Microsoft Partner Network Gold Communications Competency, which is based on the company meeting Microsoft’s rigorous technical, sales and marketing standards. The designation validates Novus’ expertise with Microsoft Lync and provides the company with a broad set of benefits with which to better serve current and future customers.

“We are pleased to see that Novus has achieved the Microsoft Gold Communications Competency,” said Giovanni Mezgec, General Manager of Lync Product Marketing, Microsoft, “which demonstrates a high ability and commitment to meet our customers' evolving needs in today's dynamic business environment.” To earn a Microsoft gold communications competency, partner's employees must successfully complete exams (resulting in Microsoft Certified Professionals) to prove their level of technology expertise, and then designate these certified professionals uniquely to the communications competency, ensuring a certain level of staffing capacity. They also must submit customer references that demonstrate successful projects and pass sales and technology assessments.


Since January, Novus has added Lync products from leading developers to its already comprehensive Lync portfolio.

“But perhaps even more importantly, we are delivering competency,” said Chris Meehan, managing partner of Novus. “There are few distributors in the country with deep Lync voice expertise, but we are one of them.” To that end, Novus is establishing the beginnings of a Lync services business, with an emphasis on the voice application. “Right now, it’s been more ad-hoc billable services, but we are seeing a big demand for enterprise voice services and expertise, and are working to establish this as an official business,” said Meehan.

In terms of new Lync products, AudioCodes’ entire lineup of Lync qualified products are now sold by Novus: IP phones, gateways and session border controllers including AudioCodes’ carrier-grade Mediant 9000 SBC which supports up to 16,000 users and is geared toward service providers and contact centers.

Novus also added Sennheiser’s latest Lync product to its lineup, the sleek “puck-shaped” Speakerphone series, which is meant for personal or small group conferences using a PC, smartphone or tablet; and a Lync-based call logging and recording system by Numonix.

Novus has consistently filled out its portfolio of Lync-based products and is becoming a one-stop shop for Lync hardware from over 10 manufacturers with a full complement of IP phones, media gateways, load balancers and SIP trunks. The company will continue to partner with best-of-breed developers to deliver complete Lync solutions to the marketplace and realize its goal of expanding the base of Microsoft Lync users in enterprises large and small.
