Norm Reeves, Inc. and Federal Trade Commission Enter Stipulated Settlement Agreement

On September 7, 2017 Norm Reeves, Inc. and other entities managed by Conant Auto Retail, or "CAR Group," agreed to enter into a Stipulated Settlement with the Federal Trade Commission concerning its allegations about dealership advertising.

The Stipulated Settlement affirmatively states CAR Group's position that there is no admission of liability or fault. The settlement payment was for an amount that was equivalent to the company's expected defense costs and within the range of lower level FTC (News - Alert)/dealer settlements on a per dealership basis.

The FTC made allegations about CAR Group advertising that CAR considered to be without merit. The Complaint set forth allegations about minor technical issues in a handful of ads. The CAR Group publishes many thousands of advertisements annually. Contrary to the FTC's allegations, CAR Group has always met its regulatory responsibilities. CAR Group will continue advertising in a way that is best in class in the industry, and the company looks forward to continuing to provide outstanding sales and service to its customers.
