Nokia Siemens Networks wins network upgrade from Telenor Denmark

Dublin, Nov 17, 2009 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- 17 November 2009 - The telecommunications equipment maker Nokia Siemens Networks said today that it will upgrade the current 2G and 3G radio network of the mobile operator Telenor Denmark for nationwide EDGE and HSPA+ services.

No financial details were available.

The agreement runs for six years.

The services will be based on the Nokia Siemens Networks single radio access network (RAN) technology and LTE-capable Flexi Multiradio base station. In addition, the company will implement a new IP backbone network in order to efficiently cater for the exponential growth in bandwidth that Telenor Denmark is currently experiencing.

Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide project management, network implementation, planning and optimisation as well as software, hardware and competence development services.

Telenor Denmark is the country unit of Norwegian telecoms major Telenor ASA (OSL: TEL).
