No phone service for Ogden apartment residentsOGDEN, Jan 01, 2013 (Standard-Examiner - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- For five days, 200 residents living in a north Ogden apartment complex have been without land line phone service. And their frustrations are mounting. "It was Wednesday night that we lost it," said resident Armondo DeCarlo, who contacted the Standard-Examiner about the problem from his work phone. "The whole (Pinebrook Apartment) complex is off the grid," said DeCarlo, who has personally contacted the service provider, CenturyLink, only to be offered little in the way of an explanation. "CenturyLink is providing no updates," DeCarlo said. "They know they have an issue, but they can't give me any updates other than that." Meanwhile, DeCarlo claims about 200 people living at the complex, at 381 N. Washington Blvd., are without land line phone service. CenturyLink representative Jackie Lalor said she has been in contact with their network team, and there are "a little more than a dozen people" who have been without service since Thursday. New equipment has already been shipped with the hope of having the service restored no later than Wednesday, she said. "Our customers mean everything to us," Lalor said. "Our customers are our No. 1 priority." Where the phone land line is experiencing a problem, Lalor said, customers will receive a credit. DeCarlo said what has been frustrating is that he is receiving DSL Internet service from CenturyLink, which is working. But because of the way the system is set up, he said, he has been unable to contact the maintenance side of CenturyLink via live chat through his Internet service. "There has got to be two lines underground," DeCarlo said, explaining why a DSL line serving the apartment complex is operating, while phone service isn't.
