Next-Generation Connected Wearable, Samsung Gear S, Arrives at Sprint Nov. 7

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. --(Business Wire)--

The next generation of connected wearables arrives at Sprint (NYSE:S) on Friday, Nov. 7, with the launch of Samsung (News - Alert) Gear S™, featuring connectivity in a wrist-worn wearable with a beautiful curved design.

Gear S is smart and comfortable to wear, allowing on-the-go users to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, or reply to emails when near or far away from their smartphone.1 Gear S has its own phone number and users can forward calls from their smartphone, making it easy to make and receive phone calls directly from their wrist.

Gear S will be available through Sprint (News - Alert) direct ship sales channels, including Sprint Stores, Web Sales and Telesales at 1-800-SPRINT1. With Sprint Easy PaySM, well-qualified buyers can purchase Gear S with $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $16 (SRP: $384; excluding taxes; service plan required).

Gear S can be added to a Sprint Family Share Pack for a $10 per month per line access charge. Through December 2015, Sprint will waive the $10 per month access charge on Gear S added as a new line of service to any Sprint Family Share Pack 20GB or higher.2

The Sprint Family Share Pack is the best value for families with a new shared-data plan that offers double the high-speed data at a lower price than AT&T and Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless on nationally available plans. A family with up to 10 lines can get 20GB of shared data and unlimited talk and text for only $100 a month through 2015.2 For a family of four, that's a savings of $60 per month versus AT&T's (News - Alert) and Verizon's current pricing through 2015; double the data of AT&T and Verizon; and double the high-speed data of T-Mobile.3

"Samsung Gear S offers an amazing wearable experience and the Sprint Family Share Pack offers the best value to consumers," said Doug Kaufman, director-Device Strategy, Sprint. "With the overhaul of our network, the Sprint network is there when our customers need it for all the ways they depend on their wireless devices."

Built on the Tizen-based wearable platform, Gear S features a sleek, curved 2-inch Super AMOLEDreg; touchscreen display that makes it easy to read notifications or view articles with photos in News Briefings. Responding to incoming messages is quick and easy using the onscreen keyboard or enhanced S Voice™. It is also certified IP67 dust- and water-resistant.4

Using the Sprint 3G nationwide network, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi connectivity allows Gear S users to stay connected to social networks, calendars and applications with seamless notifications. Gear S also offers 24-hour news with customizable topics, including business, technology, sports, celebrity, science, entertainment, style, food and travel.

For the health conscious, Gear S includes Nike+ and S Health™5 with enhanced multi-sensors and GPS. It features exercise tracking, continuous heart rate monitoring and infographic workout reports. For the music lover, Gear S can play songs stored on the device or easily control music stored on the companion smartphone when the device is out of reach.
