Occupation: Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs Service Center in Brecksville, Ohio. The center oversees IT and energy acquisition for the agency.
Education: Bachelor's degree in political science, Northeastern University; master's degree in institutional safety and health, University of Wisconsin; master's degree in strategic studies, Army War College
Background: After serving in the Marine Corps from 1981 to 1986, Demers served in the Army through 1992, becoming a reservist the following year. From November 2006 through May, he commanded the Army Reserve's 475th Quartermaster Group in Mercer County.
Noteworthy: He recently was named temporary commander of the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command in Moon, a two-year-old Army Reserve unit that provides logistics support -- for example, food, fuel, water and ammunition -- to soldiers in theater. When Brig. Gen. Peter Lennon returns from Iraq in September to become commander, Demers will become deputy commander.
