New York Institute of Finance Partners with Open edX to Offer All Financial Exam Preparation Courses Through Innovative Online Model

Leading financial education training provider the New York Institute of Finance (NYIF) today announced that it will transition all of its exam preparation courses to Open edX, an online learning environment, beginning in January 2015.

The new model combines the expertise and interaction of a classroom course with the flexibility of electronic learning. NYIF's innovative programs will include video lectures, direct interaction with fellow students and classroom discussions, along with access to an instructor who is constantly "on call."

NYIF will offer preparation courses for five major designations - CFA, FRM, MTA, CPA and Series 7. Technology for the courses will be facilitated through the Open edX, an interactive platform designed for modern online learning. EDX (News - Alert) already supports 60 schools, nonprofits, corporations, and international organizations with a combined 3 million users taking 300 courses online.

"By going digital, we allow every financial professional to access our leading courses and give them the best possible chance of passing these critical examinations," said Lee Arthur, Managing Director of NYIF. "Integrating these cutting-edge technologies into our coursework means our students will receive exactly the instruction they need to succeed."

"We're pleased that the NYIF is using Open edX technolgy to power their education network that will help develop the professional lives of thousands of financial and economic professionals," said Lee Rubenstein, edX vice president of business development.

Open edX is the open source learning platform that powers edX, the non-profit MOOC provider founded by Harvard and MIT (News - Alert) in 2012, now used by major universities and corporations around the world, including Stanford, Google, Berkeley and Columbia.

The Market Technicians Association's managing director of global business development Tyler Wood, said NYIF's exam preparation had contributed to the strong passing rate from its members for required examinations. "Our association is committed to the success of our members. We look forward to seeing how our network of market analysis professionals will benefit from this new way of teaching critical skills related to the theory, practice and application of technical analysis."

NYIF trains over 15,000 students globally each year online, as well as delivering classroom-based professional certificate courses in New York, London, Shanghai and Beijing.
