New membership community for online retailers and e-commerce professionals in SA [Bizcommunity (South Africa)]

(Bizcommunity (South Africa) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAIRA will be officially launching its membership community for online retailers and e-commerce professionals at the SAIRA Online Retailing Conference on 13/14 October in Somerset West, Cape Town.

SAIRA was established to promote, support and protect internet retailers in South Africa and will offer online shoppers independent and impartial guidance on who best to use for their online purchases.

Internet retailing in South Africa is growing at a significant rate. This can be attributed to a combination of factors, all of which have improved favourably in a relatively short period of time. At this stage however, there is no single independent organisation that is able to offer support and guidance to both prospective and existing online retailers, negotiate preferential procurement deals for them, recognise service excellence or promote the industry as a whole. Similarly, there is currently no independent and impartial body in South Africa that protects online shoppers and helps them make informed choices.

Enter SAIRA. SAIRA is an interactive membership community for internet retailers and e-commerce professionals that was established to promote, support and protect internet retailers in South Africa. The organisation is structured around the following cornerstones: - Member Services - we offer a variety of different subscription models, each with a unique range of benefits. We would like to be a broad church and with this in mind, have put together a number of different subscription options to cater for all clients. We also offer a separate package for suppliers of goods and services to the internet retailing industry.

- Conference - SAIRA will host an annual two-day conference and exhibition exclusively dedicated to internet retailing in South Africa. The founders of SAIRA have attended their fair share of conferences (local and international) in the past, and believe that they have developed a unique and interactive model that will give real value to delegates and exhibitors. SAIRA will also be hosting regional seminars and workshops on a regular basis. Initially these will be presented in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, but will be rolled out to other areas as well.

- Online Retail Awards - one of the best ways to recognise excellence and to promote members and the online retail industry as a whole, is to offer an annual competition, which is easy to enter, offers all entrants an equal chance of winning and is judged on fair and measurable criteria. SAIRA have a unique formula that will enable this. Winners (overall and category), will be automatically entered into the International Online Retail Awards.

- Advice, guidance and protection for online shoppers - online retailers wanting to become a SAIRA member need to pass a full audit and are required to sign a code of good conduct before they can carry the SAIRA Safe Site badge. Online shoppers will soon be able to rate and review the performance of SAIRA members and this will in turn help other shoppers decide who to buy from. SAIRA will be officially launched at its first annual online retail conference, which will be held on 13/14 October 2014 at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, Cape Town. The event is open to anybody who would like to learn more about online retailing and network with their peers. It features a well-balanced mix of keynote presentations, networking opportunities and interactive breakaway sessions. The breakaway sessions are divided into three streams, each catering for a different audience (prospective/new online retailers, established online retailers, advanced/mature online retailers).
