New Liberia Foundation Urges Calm in Planned Demonstrations

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

Jones Williams, founder of the New Liberia Foundation has advised the leaders of various Liberian organizations to tone down the level of force they intend to use in scheduled demonstrations.

Demonstrations are being organized for supporters and Liberians to march against the Liberian government in response to the way it has handled the Ebola crisis. Concerns range from the slowness in communicating the severity of the crisis to the lack of checks and balances to protect funds earmarked for Ebola.

When Williams was contacted for his support he expressed concern about th tone and force that was planned. Mr. Williams says: "While I can understand the frustrations of all Liberians with regards to the current administration's response to the Ebola crisis, I am hopeful that we can get our message across peacefully. Rather than protesting I encourage voters to speak with candidates in the upcoming senatorial elections and ask them what they will do if elected to protect their communities." He added, "We should be focused on teaching community leaders about disease prevention, such as hand washing. This will go a long way in stopping the epidemic."

The New Liberia Foundation is raising awareness through its website and working with partners and advisors to get help to the people of Liberia. Further information of the programs the Foundation is sponsoring can be found here.
