New industrial policy to include job reservation for Kannadigas [India] [Times of India]

(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BANGALORE: Karnataka's new industrial policy would stress on primacy to Kannadigas in employment in the private sector, as per Sarojini Mahishi Report.

The state cabinet on Thursday discussed the proposed new industrial policy (2014-19), but didn't approve it, as some of the ministers wanted to know how the existing policy had helped the industrial growth and how many Kannadigas had got jobs in the last five years. They also wanted to know other details like the number of industries set up, total investments done and the employment generated.

Law minister TB Jayachandra said the government wanted all sectors, including the IT, to provide jobs to Kannadigas, as recommended by Mahishi. "We'll take up the issue in the next cabinet," he said.

Adopt tourist centres The government has invited corporates and industrialists to partner in the development of tourist centers. It wants the corporates to adopt the famous tourist centers in the state as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It has identified 46 tourist destinations, like Badami, Pattadakal, Lal Bagh and Bannerghatta National Park, where it wants the moneyed to maintain and develop the circuit houses, inspection bungalows and other facilities. The CSR potential in the state is Rs 12,000 crore.
