Nespak Board announces bonus, pay raise for staff


(Nation (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Board of Directors of National Engineering Services Pakistan, in line with the federal government budget announcement, has approved bonus and 10 percent ad hoc raise in salaries of its staff during 138th meeting which was later announced by the Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif during a ceremony here on Monday.



Managing Director Amjad A. Khan welcomed and briefed the Federal Minister about the role and achievements of NESPAK. The Minister on this occasion, stressed the need for clearance of encroachments on river beds and other necessary steps at the provincial level.

The 138th BoD meeting and 42nd Annual General Meetings of NESPAK were held with Ms. Nargis Sethi in the chair at NESPAK House.


The Board confirmed the minutes of the previous 137th BoD meeting and appointment of Ms Nargis Sethi as Chairperson of NESPAK. The appointment of Auditors was also okayed at the meeting. The Board as well as the federal minister appreciated the services being provided by NESPAK, in the lead of its MD Amjad Khan, on the ongoing projects and urged its management to keep up its good performance. Various financial and administrative matters were also discussed and finalized in the meeting.

Amjad A. Khan on this occasion said the NESPAK was engaged in various projects of national importance in water resources, energy, highways, environment and public health engineering, architecture and planning sectors. Major projects for which NESPAK has been providing engineering consultancy services include 6600MW Gadani Power Park Project, 969 MW NeelumJhelum Hydro electric Project, 747MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Guddu, Rahim Yar Khan 500 kV Substation & associated transmission lines, he maintained.

He observed that recently, NESPAK had achieved a major breakthrough and it was successfully registered in UK as NESPAK UK Limited for undertaking international projects. The NESPAK was also in the process of establishing linkages with UK based companies, which would be reciprocal in nature. The MoUs with the UK companies would be signed within 15 to 20 days. NESPAK was now in a position to take part in bids and win projects after competition with European consultants, he said, asserting, the Company was already earning 35 percent of its total income through international projects through offices located at Saud Arab, Afghanistan, Qatar, Oman and Iran.

Once the projects start going in UK then NESPAK plans to open an independent office in London and till that time NESPAK will operate from the office of one of its associated firms located in London. The Minister was told that at present, NESPAK has staff strength of over 4200 employees.

The directors who attended the meeting included the NESPAK Managing Director Amjad A. Khan, the UET Lahore Dean Prof Abdul Sattar Sakir, Planning and Development Punjab Chairman Muhammad Irfan Elahi and National Highways Authority (NHA) Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar.
