Mittelhauser is considered one of the founding fathers of the World Wide
Web. He was co-author of the first widely used Web browser, NCSA Mosaic,
and was a founding engineer of Netscape Communications Corporation. He
was integral to building the products that made the Web a powerful
business tool. As Netscape Navigator's (News - Alert) first product manager,
Mittelhauser led the effort to make the browser a platform by
integrating and creating technologies such as browser plug-ins, Java and
JavaScript that today are still core to the power of the Web within the
enterprise.
A veteran of multiple successful start-ups, Mittelhauser has a proven
track record of building highly regarded and nimble engineeing
organizations from the ground up and helping to architect world-changing
technologies.
"Jon's legacy as one of the founding fathers of the Web will continue
here at Nebula, where he will contribute to building the computing
platform that will power the Web," said Chris C. Kemp, CEO of Nebula and
co-founder of OpenStack. "Jon's experience building world-class
engineering teams, combined with his breadth of experience across
software, hardware and operations, makes him a perfect fit for Nebula as
we ready our product for general availability."
Most recently, Mittelhauser ran the software organization at OnLive,
Inc. and had overall management responsibility for the successful launch
of their service in 2010. He helped grow OnLive's engineering
organization from 20 engineers to nearly 200, and put in place the
teams, processes and infrastructure necessary to launch the service to
millions of users across multiple data centers and thousands of servers.
"I'm looking forward to helping to bring cloud technologies to the
enterprise," said Mittelhauser. "I firmly believe that Nebula will
transform enterprise computing as much as the Web has."
Nebula co-founder Devin Carlen will now serve as Chief Technology
Officer.
"I am excited to have Jon join our team. His experience in scaling and
managing teams will be extremely helpful as we continue to rapidly
expand our engineering organization," said Carlen.
