(Roanoke Times (Roanoke, VA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 31--EDUCATION Anne Khademian, former program director for the Center for Public Administration and Policy at Virginia Tech, has been named director of the School of International and Public Affairs in Tech's College of Architecture and Urban Studies.



Roland Minton, chairman of Roanoke College's mathematics, computer science and physics department, has received the Dr. M. Paul Capp and Constance Whitehead Professorship in Mathematics at Roanoke College.

Jeffrey Sandborg, music professor and director of the Roanoke College Choir and Oriana singers, has received the Naomi Brandon and George Emery Wade Professorship in Music at Roanoke College.


ENGINEERING Timothy Caldwell of Mattern & Craig Inc. has obtained the status of Licensed Land Surveyor from the state of Virginia.

FINANCIAL Jim Patterson has been named vice president of the Roanoke office of AXA Advisors LLC.

Kathy Fowler has been promoted to senior branch office administrator at the Hollins Branch of Edward Jones.

HOSPITALITY Melissa Georges has been named sales manager at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center.

Lauren Sells Walker has been named director of catering at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center.

INSURANCE Mike McCarthy has joined Brown Insurance Agency's Blacksburg office as a commercial lines representative.

MEDIA Lolly Quigley has been promoted to director of sales at WDBJ7.

Brian Argabright has been named assistant to the general manager for WFXR (Fox), Roanoke, and WWCW (The CW), Lynchburg.

MEDICAL Shari Lusk-Custer has been promoted to director of operations of Amedisys Home Health Care's Blacksburg location.

ORGANIZATIONS Paul Beers, a litigation lawyer with Glenn Feldmann Darby & Goodlatte in Roanoke, has been elected to the board of trustees of the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton.

The Science Museum of Western Virginia has named the following members to its board of trustees for 2011-12: Stefanie Brown, Optical Cable Corp.; Michael Friedlander, Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute; Michele Wright, NewVentures Corp.; George Levicki, Delta Dental of Virginia; Christopher Rhodes, Rhodes IP PLC; Susan Magliaro, Virginia Tech; and Geoffrey Newman, SoftSolutions.
