More than 10 mn iPhone 6s sold on first weekend

(EFE Ingles Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) San Francisco, Sep 22 (EFE).- Apple said Monday more than 10 million of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Plus devices were sold on the first weekend.

"Sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Plus have surpassed our expectations for the launch weekend and we could not be happier," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. "We want to thank our clients who had made this the best release ever." The newest Apple smartphones are on sale in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the United Kingdom and the company says they will be available in 115 countries by the end of the year.

The sales figures do not include China, potentially one of the largest markets, because the iPhone 6 has not been approved yet by the Chinese authorities.

The iPhone 6 series phones are Apple's largest so far and prices range from $199 to $499. EFE Arc/jab/dr (c) 2014 EFE News Services (U.S.) Inc.
