Monster and The BOSS Group Unveil Research Highlighting Recruitment Activity for Marketing, Creative and Web Occupations
MAYNARD, Mass. & BETHESDA, Md. --(Business Wire)-- Monster(R), the leading global online careers and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNST), and The BOSS Group, a leading niche provider of on-demand creative, marketing, and web professionals, today announce the availability of research reports detailing job seeker and recruitment activity within the marketing, creative and web-focused occupational category.
The two free reports, "Marketing Job Seeker Activity: What are your candidates doing?" and "Recruiter Activity & Best Practices: How do you stack up?," draw from surveys of human resource professionals, hiring managers and job seekers, as well as Monster's own proprietary data.
Recruiter Report Key Highlights:
-- Recruiting remains competitive in the Marketing sector. In early 2007, marketing job postings had increased by nearly 44 percent, compared to the same period last year. In addition, broad growth is expected throughout 2007, suggesting a further tightening of the labor market.
-- The Washington DC metro area is a "hot spot" for marketing and creative professionals. Whereas demand for marketing professionals in 2007 has been strong overall, job postings in several U.S. states, including Maryland, Virginia and Alaska, have increased by more than 100 percent.
-- Recruiters are working harder to find qualified marketing candidates. Twenty-two percent of recruiters find it typically takes more than 60 days to fill a position. In fact, the average time a creative job posting remains active has increased by almost two weeks over the last two years.
Job Seeker Report Key Highlights:
-- Marketing job seekers are somewhat willing to relocate. In general, marketing job seekers are optimistic about finding work locally; however, 41 percent are open to the possibility of moving, compared to 35 percent in other Monster categories. For the most part, these are seasoned professionals seeking higher-level positions.
-- Many marketing candidates are open to temporary, contract or project-based work. While job seekers in administrative and support roles tend to look for permanent employment, there are many experienced and highly-skilled candidates willing to step into a temporary, contract or project-based opportunity.
-- Many specific jobs saw an increase in demand but the number of applicable newly posted resumes dropped. For example, the number of advertisements for web graphic designers increased by 80 percent, but the number of posted resumes relevant to this job title decreased by 20 percent.
"Our research reveals that there is tightening demand for marketing, creative and web professionals across the nation," said Jeff Quinn, director of research, Monster. "Given this war for talent, employers seeking to recruit and retain qualified candidates need to be more attuned to shifts in job seeker attitudes and behaviors."
Jenna Stone, Marketing Manager for the BOSS Group, commented from company headquarters in Bethesda, Md.: "These reports are unique in that they focus solely on the marketing and creative fields, and we're pleased to be able to partner with Monster to provide this useful information for our clients and the creative industry as a whole. The findings mirror what we're seeing in our day to day operations: an increasingly challenging recruitment market, especially for web positions, and a shift in the tactics employers and job seekers are using to find each other."
