Mobile devices enhance Facebook access
(Corporate IT Update Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) 10 February 2011 -- Online social network Facebook is getting further integrated into mobile devices, entering deep into new smartphones from Taiwanese handset maker HTC (TOE:2498) and Hutchison Whampoa's (HKG:13) subsidiary INQ, the Financial Times reports.
The handset makers are set to present new devices in March that would offer users enhanced access to the social network.
HTC's phone is set to have a special button taking the users immediately to Facebook, while INQ is reported to have been working with the networking website to create applications for its new phone -- the Cloud, that would mix Facebook Events with the phone's calendar and employ Facebook features permanently on the phone's screen.
The new devices will offer live Facebook updates, with these to feature not just text alerts but also video and photo ones.
INQ's device is expected to be launched in the UK in April and to enter markets in other countries in the following months.
