Mississippi Collects Nearly $700,000 Through nCourt's Online Traffic Citation Payment System
WOODSTOCK, Ga. --(Business Wire)--
nCourt, LLC, a leading national provider of eFiling and payment solutions for lower courts, today announced that its electronic traffic and citation payments system has helped Mississippi collect nearly $700,000 in revenue; a $400,000 increase over the amount announced this past August. Available in 44 Justice and Municipal Courts, nCourt's secure eCommerce service has enabled Mississippi to significantly reduce the number of follow-up collection efforts such as warrants, leading to substantial cost savings for the state and those facing the citations.
"This solution enhances the public's access to the court, makes us available 24 hours a day, and greatly increases the court's efficiency through the use of technology, all at no cost to the taxpayer. This represents all we hope to see in an effective judicial system," said Shirley Beshears, Court Clerk of Desoto County Justice Court, the second Mississippi location to implement nCourt's services. "We have offenders that do not want to give their credit card information over the telephone and would rather go ‘online' to pay their ticket. With the implementation of nCourt, Desoto County Justice Court is keeping pace with the increasing trend towards online payments."
nCourt first became available in Forrest County in November of 2008, followed by Lauderdale and Desoto Counties. Realizing the tremendous revenue potential, the number of courts quickly escalated to 28 by August, 2009 and now stands at 44, with total revenue collections projected to reach over $1.5 Million by the end of the year. With nCourt, individuals who are facing a traffic violation citation simply visit a specific Justice Court payment site for their area (for example, Madison County residents use www.madisoncotix.com) or www.ncourt.com for a complete listing and select their county from the menu. The convenient, easy-to-follow system enables payments to be made and confirmed within minutes, ensuring completion and avoiding further potential penalties. Also, in addition to traffic citation payments, many counties in Mississippi are leveraging nCourt for services such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, property tax collection and utility payments.
"We were thrilled to see a high return on the nCourt system for Mississippi courts back in August," said David Morris, CEO of nCourt. "To have such a sharp increase in revenue and an additional 16 courts sign on since then further validates that the services we offer are win-win for all parties involved. We are looking forward to Mississippi's continued success!"
In addition to Mississippi, nCourt also serves the online payment needs of courts, cities, counties and their other revenue-generating departments for a combined 350+ jurisdictions in 15 other states. These states include Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas.
