mig33 launches mobile fan clubs for IPL
New Delhi, Apr 16, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) --
US-based mobile community firm mig33 has partnered with five teams, including Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils to form mobile fan clubs for each of them to cash in on the IPL fever.
The company would form fan clubs on the mobile phone platform for Indian Premier League (IPL) teams of Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers and Deccan Chargers, mig33 said in a statement.
The fan clubs would provide an opportunity to members to connect with the teams, 'watch' matches with live ball-by- ball commentary in dedicated chat rooms with other fans on their mobile, access members-only chat features and also buy virtual items and merchandise of their favourite team, it added.
These mobile fan clubs would also feature virtual cricket stadiums, where fans can take part in live, moderated chats with their favourite cricket stars, team coaches and cheer leaders.
Mig33, which offers members free access to chat rooms, instant messaging, profiles and photo sharing, has more than 20 million users worldwide.
"Mobile provides the ideal platform for cricket fans around the world to engage directly with one other as well as chat with their cricket heroes, while catching all the live cricket action," mig33 Chief Executive Officer Steve Boom said.
