Mesothelioma Law Firm Baron & Budd Applauds Passage of U.S. Senate Resolution Designating April 1-7 as National Asbestos Awareness Week 2015

The U.S. Senate has once again passed a bipartisan resolution designating the first week of April as National Asbestos Awareness Week 2015. This is the 12th consecutive year the designation has been established in order to raise awareness of the dangers of exposure to asbestos, as well as the fact that the carcinogenic material has yet to be banned in the U.S. Senate Resolution 125, sponsored by Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), was passed on March 27.

Asbestos has been linked to several serious diseases including mesothelioma, a form of cancer that attacks the lining of the lungs, abdomen and, in certain instances, the heart. Even though the World Health Organization reports that asbestos causes more than 100,000 deaths globally each year, the U.S. stillallows the import of this deadly material. According to the Environmental Working Group, at least 8.2 million pounds of raw asbestos was imported into the U.S. from 2006-2014.

The national mesothelioma law firm of Baron & Budd is proud to support this resolution.

"We appreciate Senator Markey and all of the other co-sponsors responsible for introducing Senate Resolution 125," said Russell Budd, president and managing shareholder of the mesothelioma law firm Baron & Budd. "It is time to take action against asbestos."
