Meru Releases WLAN Management Application for Apple iPhones
Jun 12, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Meru Networks announced it has introduced E(z)RF OnTheGo, what it said is the first wireless LAN management application available on a smartphone, for the Apple iPhone.
E(z)RF OnTheGo brings WLAN data from E(z)RF Network Manager 2.0 to dashboards formatted specially for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Network administrators can access customized views of management data (e.g., network load, density, client counts, connection status) and receive notifications of events. They can then initiate immediate, context-aware network actions without having to return to their desks.
As a browser-based application, E(z)RF OnTheGo does not require users to download any software into their iPhones.
"E(z)RF OnTheGo gives new meaning to the phrase 'management by walking around,'" said Sri Juvvadi, director of product management at Meru. "Critical information from the E(z)RF Network Manager 2.0 desktop console is delivered right to the IT manager on his iPhone."
The application is available immediately as an add-on option to E(z)RF Network Manager 2.0.
