Media Advisory: Elevation of Archbishop Thomas Collins to the College of Cardinals

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Feb 14, 2012 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- Attention News/Assignment Editors Cardinal-delegate Thomas Christopher Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, will be elevated to the College of Cardinals of the Catholic Church on February 18 in Rome. With this appointment, Archbishop Collins becomes the fourth cardinal in the 110-year history of the church in Toronto and the 16th cardinal in the history of the Roman Catholic Church in Canada.


While the formal ceremonies with the Pope at the Vatican take place this weekend, several days of events are planned to commemorate this historic occasion. A delegation of 200 Canadians will be in Rome this week to experience the event.
