Mayor Gillum Proclaims Jan. 21-27 "Tallahassee School Choice Week"; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Mayor Gillum has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 as School Choice Week in Tallahassee, joining hundreds of other city and county leaders nationwide, plus dozens of governors, in issuing proclamations for School Choice Week.

The Tallahassee area will feature about 120 School Choice Week events and activities, part of the 3,800 in Florida and 32,000 across the country.

The rallies, coffeehouse meetups, festivals, school fairs, roundtable discussions, and receptions will raise awareness of educational opportunity and spark conversations about the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

"We would like to thank Mayor Gillum for this proclamation," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "The enthusiasm that Tallahassee families have for school choice is amazing. We're excited o celebrate opportunity with them and with Americans across the country."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
