Marketing co. Omnicom says 4Q profit rises 10 pct
(Associated Press Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK -- Marketing and corporate communications company Omnicom Group Inc. said Tuesday that its fourth-quarter net income rose 10 percent as revenue grew in the U.S. and abroad.
Omnicom posted profit of $268.4 million, or 96 cents per share, in the October-December period. That's up from $244 million, or 83 cents per share, in the same quarter in 2010.
Revenue rose 7 percent to $3.85 billion from $3.59 billion. The New York company said U.S. revenue rose 5 percent to $1.93 billion, while international revenue grew 10 percent to $1.92 billion.
Analysts, on average, expected a profit of 95 cents per share on $3.8 billion in revenue, according to a FactSet poll.
For the full year 2011, Omnicom earned $941.9 million, or $3.33 per share, up from $819.7 million, or $2.70 per share, in 2010. Revenue rose 11 percent to $13.87 billion from $12.54 billion.
In afternoon trading, Omnicom shares fell 16 cents to $47.86.
