Man with gun arrested

Richmond police arrested a Barringer Lane man New Year's Day after a report that he was lying in the middle of Jason Drive.
Kyle D. Rodriques, 21, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and alcohol intoxication after police found him standing in the road in the 400 block of Jason Drive. Police ordered him to a kneeling position and removed an unloaded .22-caliber handgun from a holster on his belt.
The gun was not loaded, police said, but Rodriques was carrying two loaded magazines.
Rodriques is lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
Shoplifting, drug arrest
An alleged shoplifter at Walmart was arrested Wednesday on theft and drug possession charges.
Angela Shepherd, 32, of Sally Branch Road, Richmond, was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, less than $300, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and giving a false name to a police officer.
Police say Shepherd was detained by Walmart employees for allegedly taking $42 in merchandise.
During her arrest, Shepherd gave police a false name, and two oxycodone pills were found in her wallet.
Shepherd was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
Handgun stolen
A .45-caliber pistol was reported stolen Thursday from an unlocked car in the 500 block of Hillsdale Avenue.
The victim, a Lexington resident, reported the gun, a car stereo and a wallet containing identification were stolen from the car while it was parked at a party overnight.
The items were valued at $770. There were no signs of forced entry.
Tools, phone taken
A Melanie Lane resident found that more than $2,850 in tools and other items were stolen from his pickup truck early Thursday.
The man went outside to investigate a noise outside his home in the 800 block around 1:15 a.m. when he discovered a number of tools had been taken from his unlocked truck.
Taken were a Bosch hammer drill, a Bosch reciprocating saw and jigsaw kit, an impact wrench, a screw gun, a pair of Leopold binoculars and a Motorola Razr cellular phone.
Other crimes
--Vandals attempted to break into a Coca-Cola vending machine at the Red Roof Inn on Wednesday, the manager told police.
Someone cut the lock off the machine on the second floor of the motel and also damaged the bill acceptor, police said, but failed to get into the machine.
The vandal caused $300 in damage to the machine.
--A Walmart employee had a car stereo, a car battery charger and some hand tools stolen Wednesday from her unlocked car in the store's parking lot. The items were valued at $240.
--A woman reported that $600 in cash was stolen from her Wednesday by a traveling companion while the pair was staying at the Quality Quarters Motel. The woman told police that they had traveled from Tennessee to Richmond, and while in a motel room, the suspect asked to count the victim's money.
The victim gave the suspect $600 in cash and then left the room. When the victim returned, the suspect and the money were both missing. Police are continuing their investigation.
--Police charged Bobbie Michelle Poston, 27, of Meadowlark Bottoms, Irvine, with theft by unlawful taking, less than $300 Thursday after Walmart employees detained her for allegedly taking $64 in merchandise from the store.
