Man sought after strong-armed robbery at Marshalls in Portsmouth


PORTSMOUTH, Dec 13, 2012 (Foster's Daily Democrat - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Police are on the lookout for a man in his 20s who allegedly fought with a store security officer at Marshalls on Woodbury Avenue before fleeing in a car with stolen merchandise.



The incident, which took place Wednesday, Dec. 12, is being described by police as a strong-armed robbery. According to an announcement released by the Portsmouth Police Department, patrol officers responded to the 1465 Woodbury Ave. store at about 1:30 p.m., after receiving a report a shoplifter had fled the store. On scene, they learned of a tussle between the shoplifter and the store's loss prevention officer.

The suspect, described as a white man in his 20s, escaped to the parking lot and entered a tan, four-door sedan, possibly with a New Hampshire registration. A woman was behind the wheel, according to police.


The shoplifting suspect is said to be approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing dark jeans, according to police.
