Malaysia's TCMH Offer Ten NTD$89,490 Scholarships to Taiwan's NCKU Students


TAINAN, Taiwan --(Business Wire)--

With a preference for students from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) College of Engineering, Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad (TCMH), a Malaysia-based investment holding company, arrived at NCKU to look for talent recently.

The company offers scholarships to 10 Malaysian students at NCKU, where each will receive a total of NTD$89,490 per semester and will be given the opportunity to serve as a management associate of TCMH right after graduation. The deadline for scholarship application is Mar. 31.

NCKU Alumni Association Center Director Shyh-Yu Shaw revealed, "TCMH has already reached an agreement on forming collaborations with NCKU last year," adding that Tan Chong Motor Holdings is Malaysia's biggest car manufacturer and a large number of talent are needed for the growing market.

Dr. Lim Weng Khuan, Senior General Manager PA to Chaiman TCMH, said that NCKU is known to be the best college of engineering in Taiwan and thus the company comes to NCKU to seek talent. Last year, NCKU has recommended graduated students to work at Tan Chong Motor Holdings.



As for the qualification of scholarship, Dr. Lim indicated that if students have accepted the scholarship offered by their company, students can no longer accept scholarships offered by other companies.

He also emphasized on the importance of internship, scholarship holders are encouraged to undergo internship every year in order to learn related skills and the company's corporate culture.


Dr. Paul Leow, Senior General Manager CRM & Learning TCMH, noted that TCMH established in 1957 is one of the largest motor vehicle assembly, sales and distribution conglomerate in Southeast Asia. Occupying a pivotal position in the Asian vehicle market, car brands including Subaru, Nissan, Mitsubishi (News - Alert) Fuso and others entered the Southeast Asia market through Tan Chong Motor Holdings.

Other than vehicle manufacturing, this conglomerate is also involved in a diversified business portfolio including commercial advertising, manufacturing, real estate property, trade and investment and so on, setting up branches in every country in the Southeast Asian region.
