Malaysian 'Bigfoot' spotted by locals

(UPI Quirks in the News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Siamang -- a creature similar to Bigfoot of North American legend -- has reportedly been spotted by residents of a southern Malaysia village.

Orang asli -- aborigines who live in Punjat Sungai Nadik village in Kahang -- say they have been terrified by their encounters with the creature, All Asia News Network reported.

The village is home to about 30 orang asli families who earn a living by gathering and selling produce from the jungle.

Hashim Yusof, director of Johor National Park, interviewed local residents about Siamang as he led park officials and press members on a tour of the area.

We want to uncover the truth about this creature and also squash any rumors that can scare away visitors to the national park, he said.
