Status: Talks - INDIAN RELIANCE REPORTEDLY IN TALKS WITH US QUICKSILVER Indian refiner Reliance Industries (BOM: 500325) is negotiating a partial or entire acquisition of US independent energy company Quicksilver Resources (NYSE:KWK).

Status: Talks; Speculation - US SRA TAKES OVER ENERGY MANAGEMENT CONSULTANTS SENTECH US SRA International (NYSE:SRX), a provider of technology and consulting services to governmental and commercial customers, said it had bought energy management consulting firm Sentech, effective immediately, for an undisclosed sum.


Status: Closed - RAMIUS MAKES USD4 P/S CASH APPROACH FOR CYPRESS US investment advisor Ramius said it had approached the board of Cypress Bioscience (NASDAQ:CYPB), a provider of therapeutics and personalised medical services, with an USD4 (EUR3.09) per-share all-cash offer to buy the rest of the company.

Status: Bidding - US GENCO TO BUY ATC TECHNOLOGY US engineering and logistics service provider ATC Technology (NASDAQ:ATAC) has agreed to be acquired by sector player Genco Distribution Systems for USD512.6m (EUR398m) in cash.

Status: Agreed - US CLIFFS NATURAL RESOURCES EXTENDS BID FOR SPIDER, OWNS 81.8% US miner Cliffs Natural Resources (NYSE:CLF) said it had extended to 26 July its CAD0.19 (USD0.18/EUR0.14) per share offer for Canadian mineral exploration firm Spider (CVE:SPQ) after securing 81.8% by 16 July.

Status: Bidding - NOKIA SIEMENS TO BUY MOTOROLA WIRELESS NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE ASSETS Finland-based Nokia Siemens Networks said it had agreed to buy most of US handset maker Motorola's (NYSE:MOT) wireless network infrastructure assets for USD1.2bn (EUR926.3m) in cash, to grow globally.

Status: Agreed - TEAK MIDSTREAM ANNOUNCES TEXANA PIPELINE COMPANY BUY TEAK Midstream, a provider of services to gas producing areas in the US, said it had bought Texana Pipeline Company, focused on natural gas gathering and NGL transportation, for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Closed - SEADRILL CLOSES OFFER FOR SCORPION, OWNS 98.8% Oslo-listed offshore drilling contractor Seadrill (OSL:SDRL) said its mandatory offer of NOK40.50 (USD6.4/EUR5) per share for Scorpion (OSL:SCORE) was accepted by shareholders owning 48.7% in the company, giving it a total ownership of 98.8%.

Status: Closed - SVYAZINVEST AGAINST BUYING DIA'S 29.9% IN ROSTELECOM Russian state-owned telecommunications holding Svyazinvest is not interested in taking the 29.9% interest in its unit Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) from state's Depositary Insurance Agency (DIA).

Status: Terminated - BELGIAN DELHAIZE SHOWS INTEREST IN ALDI'S GREEK STORES Belgian food retailer Delhaize (EBR:DELB) has expressed interest in German discount retailer Aldi's Greek business.

Status: Bidding; Speculation - UNILEVER TO SELL ITALIAN FROZEN FOODS UNIT FINDUS FOR EUR805M Consumer goods group Unilever (LON:ULVR) said it had entered into a binding deal to dispose of its Italian frozen foods unit Findus for EUR805m (USD1.04bn) to a buyer in which frozen confectioneries maker Birds Eye Iglo holds a significant interest.

Status: Agreed - US SANDRIDGE COMPLETES ARENA RESOURCES ACQUISITION US oil and gas company SandRidge Energy Inc (NYSE:SD) has completed its takeover of local sector firm Arena Resources Inc (NYSE:ARD) after getting shareholders' approvals.

Status: Closed - GDF SUEZ CONFIRMS MERGER TALKS WITH INTERNATIONAL POWER French utility GDF Suez (EPA:GSZ) said it was in preliminary merger talks with British sector player International Power (LON:IPR).

Status: Talks - LOGICA TO SELL DUTCH PAYROLL ACTIVITIES TO ADP NEDERLAND Anglo-Dutch IT company Logica plc (AMS:LOG, LON:LOG) has agreed to sell its payroll activities in the Netherlands to payroll processor ADP Nederland for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Agreed - BELGIAN ARGENTA TO SELL DAMAGE INSURANCE BUSINESS Belgian banking and insurance group Argenta said it has agreed to sell its damage insurance activities, part of Argenta Assuranties, to insurer Van Ameyde Belgium, for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Agreed - NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE DENIES MERGER RUMOURS National Bank of Greece (ATH:ETE) denied rumours on M&A plans soon.

Status: Denied - ISRAELI VOCALTEC, US YMAX WRAP UP MERGER Israel-based provider of VoIP solutions VocalTec Communications Ltd (NASDAQ:VOCL) has completed its merger with US YMAX Corp.

Status: Closed - VITEC MULTIMEDIA BUYS SYSTEMS GROUP OF FOCUS ENHANCEMENTS France-based VITEC Multimedia, a provider of digital video solutions, said it had bought the Systems Group of US Focus Enhancements for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Closed - TELEFONICA TERMINATES BID FOR BRAZILIAN VIVO Spanish telecom firm Telefonica (MCE:TEF) will drop its offer for Portugal Telecom's (ELI:PTCA) stake in Brazilian sector firm Vivo Participacoes (SAO:VIVO4).

Status: Terminated - US BIOMET TAKES OVER ANTICOAGULANTS PRODUCER CYTOSOL US musculoskeletal medical products company Biomet Inc said it had purchased Massachusetts-based small volume anticoagulants producer Cytosol Laboratories Inc.

Status: Closed - CANADIAN CONSORTIUM BIDS GBP3.25 P/S FOR UK TOMKINS The board of UK engineering and manufacturing company Tomkins (LON:TOMK) said it had been approached by a consortium with a proposal to buy it for GBP3.25 (USD4.9/EUR3.9) per share in cash.

Status: Bidding - FRENCH INSURERS MCD, SPHERIA VAL DE FRANCE DROP TIE-UP PLAN French mutual health insurers MCD and Spheria Val de France have cancelled merger plans revealed in September 2009, as they failed to produce a political and operational structure for the combined entity.

Status: Terminated - BMB GROUP DENIES REPORT ON OFFER FOR CLUB MED Global investor and advisor BMB Group denied a report by the Sunday Times saying it planned to place a takeover bid for French Club Mediterranee (EPA:CU) valuing the travel company at EUR800m (USD1.03bn).

Status: Denied - US FLOWSERVE TAKES OVER ITALIAN VALVE MAKER VALBART US flow control systems producer Flowserve Corp (NYSE:FLS) said it had bought Italian trunnion-mounted ball valves manufacturer Valbart Srl, in a cash deal valued at some USD200m (EUR154.9m).

Status: Agreed - US QUAKER BUYS ALUMINUM HOT ROLLING OIL BUSINESS OF D.A. STUART US Quaker Chemical Corporation (NYSE:KWR) said it had taken over the US aluminum hot rolling oil operations of sector firm D.A. Stuart for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Closed - THERMO FISHER WRAPS UP CANADIAN FERMENTAS ACQUISITION US serving science group Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE:TMO) said it has completed the acquisition of Canada-based Fermentas International, which produces and distributes enzymes, reagents and kits for molecular and cellular biology research.

Status: Closed - NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE SAID TO PLAN MERGER National Bank of Greece (NYSE:NBG) plans to merge with either another leading Greek bank or a foreign lender.

Status: Speculation - GERMAN ARQUES PLANS TO EXIT GIGASET CAPITAL IN 2010 German venture capital group Arques (ETR:AQU) intends to offload its telephone unit Gigaset Communications later this year after fully acquiring it.

Status: Agreed; Auction - BELGIAN BARCO TO BUY DIGITAL SIGNAGE FIRM DZINE Belgian visualisation technology company Barco (EBR:BAR) said it had agreed to buy digital signage solutions company dZine to add to its digital visualisation offering.

Status: Agreed - UK KEWILL SAYS STILL IN TALKS TO BE TAKEN OVER The board of UK software and services company Kewill (LON:KWL) said it was still in talks with an unnamed party over a possible offer for Kewill, without giving any further details.

Status: Talks; Bidding - UK WPP BUYS INTO CHINESE MOMENT SYSTEMS' OWNER WPP Digital, a digital investment unit of UK communications and marketing group WPP (LON:WPP), said it had bought a minority interest in the British Virgin Islands-based Leading Smart Holdings, controlling Chinese digital advertising measurement firm Moment Systems.

Status: Closed - UK INTERNATIONAL POWER SAYS IN TALKS TO TIE UP WITH GDF SUEZ UNITS The board of UK power generation company International Power (LON:IPR) said it was in preliminary discussions with French utility GDF Suez (EPA:GSZ) over a proposal to merge with GDF Suez's Energy International Business Areas and some operations in the UK and Turkey.

Status: Talks - TPG, CARLYLE STRIKE AUD1.99BN DEAL TO BUY AUSTRALIAN HEALTHSCOPE US private equity firms Carlyle and TPG said they have emerged as winners in the takeover battle for Australian Healthscope (ASX:HSP), offering to pay AUD1.99bn (USD1.7bn/EUR1.3bn) for the hospital operator.
