Status: Speculation - SWISS VALIANT TO TAKE OVER LOCAL CAISSE D'EPARGNE DE SIVIRIEZ Swiss bank Caisse d'epargne de Siviriez's shareholders gave the go-ahead to its acquisition by retail bank Valiant (SWF:VATN), the latter said.

Status: Agreed - AVALON BUYS MAJORITY OF DOMESTIC ENERGY CORP US oil and gas explorer Domestic Energy Corp (PINK:DMEC) said that it has inked a deal, under which private equity firm Avalon Group would acquire a controlling stake in the company.



Status: Agreed - NEWTON 21 WRAPS UP BCM ROMA BUYOUT Belgian marketing and communications firm Newton 21 Europe (EBR:NTON) said it has closed the acquisition of Italian sector player BCM Roma at the beginning of October for an undisclosed amount.

Status: Closed - ALLIANZ BLOCKS MANROLAND, HEIDELBERGER DRUCK MERGER The planned tie-up between German printing solutions makers Heidelberger Druckmaschinen (FRA:HDD) and Manroland was blocked by insurer Allianz (ETR:ALV), which holds 65% of Manroland.

Status: Speculation, Terminated - ARCELORMITTAL OFFLOADS WABUSH MINES STAKE FOR USD34.3M Steel giant ArcelorMittal (AMS:MT) said it has agreed to divest its minority stake in the Wabush Mines in Canada for USD34.3m (EUR23.3m) as the site is no longer part of its core assets.

Status: Agreed - XSTRATA LIKELY TO PUT ASIDE BID FOR ANGLO AMERICAN British miner Xstrata (LON:XTA) is planning to drop its bid for rival Anglo American (LON:AAL).

Status: Speculation, Delayed - PEROT SYSTEMS TO BUY BEARINGPOINT CHINA'S CONSULTING UNIT US IT solutions provider Perot Systems Corp (NYSE:PER) said it has struck a deal to acquire Chinese management and technology consulting firm BearingPoint Management Consulting for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Agreed - IPI DOMANI CLOSES BID ON IPI, HOLDS 93.05% Italian investment company IPI Domani said it has has closed its takeover bid on local real estate group IPI (BIT:IPI) with a 93.05% stake.

Status: Closed - US-BASED MCS BUYS IBM SOLUTIONS PROVIDER BARSA New York-based systems integration provider Maximum Computer Systems said it has agreed to acquire local IBM solution provider Barsa Distribution Systems for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Agreed - INVESTMENT CONSORTIUM TO BID FOR GRENLAND GROUP An investment consortium, including HitecVision Echo Invest and Skogen Investering, is planning to submit a joint bid to buy out Norway's Grenland Group (OSL:GGG) at a price of NOK13 (USD2.30/EUR1.57) per share.

Status: Bidding - SYSTEMAIR TAKES OVER W.C. WOODS' DEHUMIDIFICATION ARM Swedish ventilation products maker Systemair (STO:SYSR) said it has acquired the dehumidification unit of Canadian refrigerator maker W.C. Woods for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Agreed - AFS TECHNOLOGIES WRAPS UP BECTON SCHANTZ BUYOUT AFS Technologies, a US provider of software solutions for the food and beverage industry, has finalised the acquisition of Atlanta-based integrated administrative solutions developer Becton Schantz for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Closed - ADVENT INTL TO BUY MAJORITY OF GERMAN DEBT COLLECTOR GFKL US private equity firm Advent International has agreed to buy a majority stake in German debt collector and purchaser GFKL Financial Services (ETR:GFS1) from a consortium of institutional investors for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Agreed - PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM GF CAPITAL BUYS OUT AIRBORNE US dietary supplements maker Airborne announced Monday it has been acquired by New York City-based private equity firm GF Capital Private Equity Fund LP for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Closed - TWO IBASIS SHAREHOLDERS TO REJECT KPN'S BID US calling services provider iBasis (NASDAQ:IBAS) said that two of its minority stockholders were planning to reject the takeover bid of Dutch telecomms and ICT group KPN (AMS:KPN).

Status: Bidding - UAE'S INVESTMENT CO AABAR BUYS STAKE IN SANTANDER'S BRAZILIAN ARM Abu Dhabi-based investment firm Aabar (ABD:AABAR) said it has acquired a 0.6% interest in the Brazilian unit of Spanish commercial bank Santander (MCE:SAN) for USD328m (EUR222.8m).

Status: Closed - THREE BUYERS SHOW INTEREST IN FRENCH ANDRE TRIGANO French camping operator Compagnie Internationale Andre Trigano (EPA:IAT), or CIAT, has been approached by three potential buyers.

Status: Speculation, Bidding - RUSHYDRO BUYS ANOTHER 8.23% INTEREST IN GEOTHERM The board of directors of Russian hydro-generating group RusHydro (RTD:HYDR) has cleared the acquisition of an additional 8.23% interest in its geothermal energy subsidiary, Geotherm, RusHydro said.

Status: Agreed - BRITISH KELLER TO TAKE OVER SINGAPORE FOUNDATION CONTRACTOR UK ground engineer Keller Group (LON:KLR) has agreed to buy Singaporean foundation contractor Resource Holdings in a SGD68.2m (USD49m/EUR33m) cash deal which will enhance its existing operations and product offering in the country.

Status: Agreed - RUSSIAN ROSGOSSTRAKH'S SHAREHOLDERS KEEN TO FULLY PRIVATISE CO The private shareholders of Russian national insurance company Rosgosstrakh are willing to acquire the state's holding in the insurer.

Status: Bidding - BARCLAYS TO SPIN OFF GBP4BN CREDIT ASSET PORTFOLIO British Barclays bank (LON:BARC) is looking to dispose of GBP4bn (USD6.35bn/EUR4.32bn) worth of credit market assets as it moves forward with a plan to improve its balance sheet and allay investors worries.

Status: Auction, Speculation - GERMANY READY TO APPROVE STATE AID FOR OPEL DEAL Germany is ready to greenlight the aid promised to troubled carmaker Opel on its takeover by Canadian automotive supplier Magna (TSE:MG.A) from US General Motors (GM).

Status: Talks, Speculation - FRENCH BANQUE POSTALE TAKES CONTROL OF LOCAL TOCQUEVILLE FINANCE Banque Postale, the banking arm of French state-owned postal operator Groupe La Poste, has bought between 65% and 70% of local asset management company Tocqueville Finance.

Status: Closed, Speculation - GERMAN EDSCHA AGREES TO SELL HINGE UNIT TO SPANISH GESTAMP German automotive supplier Edscha has entered an agreement to dispose of its hinge systems unit to Spanish rival Gestamp.

Status: Agreed - POLISH REGULATOR BLOCKS KOLTRAM SALE TO GERMAN VOSSLOH German railway equipment maker Vossloh AG (ETR:VOS) announced that the Polish competition regulator has ruled against its planned purchase of a stake in KolTram, a Polish state-owned rail switches and components specialist.

Status: Terminated - US GUY CARPENTER CLOSES RATTNER MACKENZIE BUY US reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter & Company LLC announced it has closed the purchase of UK-registered sector player Rattner Mackenzie Limited from US HCC Insurance Holdings (NYSE:HCC) for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Completed - SPAIN'S TELEFONICA STILL NEGOTIATING HANSENET ACQUISITION Spain's telecomms major Telefonica (MCE:TEF) is still willing to buy HanseNet, the German broadband operating unit of Telecom Italia (BIT:TIT), Matthew Key, Telefonica's head for Europe, said.

Status: Talks - SPAIN'S IBERDROLA SELLS 94.74% IN CHILEAN IBENER TO CGE FOR USD281.5M Spanish power utility Iberdrola (MCE:IBE) said it has completed the sale of 94.74% in Chilean utility Iberoamericana de Energia (Ibener) to Chile power group CGE (SCL:CGE) for USD281.55m (EUR191.4m).

Status: Closed - GM, CHINESE TENGZHONG SEAL DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT ON HUMMER DEAL US carmaker General Motors (GM) announced it has inked a definitive agreement for the sale of its premium all-terrain brand Hummer to Chinese heavy machinery maker Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery for an undisclosed sum.

Status: Agreed - US BLACKSTONE PLANS TO DISPOSE OF FIVE COS, LIST ANOTHER EIGHT US buyout firm Blackstone Group LP (NYSE:BX) plans to dispose of at least five companies in its portfolio and list up to eight others.

Status: Auction - CHINALCO NOT INTERESTED TO BUY RUSAL SHARES IN HK IPO Chinese state-owned non-ferrous metals producer Chinalco has no plans to buy shares in Russian aluminium producer UC Rusal's initial public offering to be lauched later in 2009 in Hong Kong.

Status: Denied, Speculation - US WATCHDOG GREENLIGHTS EDF-CONSTELLATION ENERGY JV DEAL French utility EDF (EPA:EDF) has received clearance from the US nuclear regulator (NRC) to buy 49.99% in the nuclear assets of US sector firm Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) in a joint venture deal, the two companies.

Status: Agreed - UK XSTRATA DISPOSES OF CHILEAN EL MORRO STAKE FOR USD465M UK miner Xstrata (LON:XTA) said it has reached a formal agreement to sell its 70% in El Morro SCM, the operator of copper-gold mine El Morro, to Canadian gold producer Barrick Gold (TSE:ABX) for cash USD465m (EUR316m).

Status: Agreed - POLISH POLICE SEEKS STRATEGIC Polish chemical producer Police (WAR:PICE) can be privatised quickly through a tender offer by a strategic investor, Deputy Treasury Minister Adam Leszkiewicz said.

Status: Auction - US ONYX TO BUY LOCAL BIOTECH FIRM US-based biopharmaceutical company Onyx Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ONXX) said it will acquire domestic biotechnology firm Proteolix for USD276m (EUR187.3m) in cash.

Status: Agreed - US EID PASSPORT TAKES OVER C&H PATRIOT SECURITY US firm Eid Passport said it has taken over local maritime and transportation security consulting company C&H Patriot Security, without revealing the price.

Status: Closed - US CONSOLIDATED GRAPHICS' UNIT CLOSES BUY OF KOHLER PRINT GROUP'S ASSETS US commercial printing services provider Consolidated Graphics (NYSE:CGX) said it has assumed "certain assets" of local sector firm The Kohler Print Group and its unit Pinnacle Press via its subsidiary Nies/Artcraft.

Status: Closed - US AMEDISYS AGREES TO BUY LOCAL MEDICAL CENTRE'S UNIT US home health and hospice services provider Amedisys (NASDAQ:AMED) said it has inked a definitive agreement to acquire the home health operations of local New Jersey-based Hackensack University Medical Centre, without revealing the price.

Status: Agreed - FRENCH DWEHO ACQUIRES RIVAL MENAGE ET COMPAGNIE French cleaning and personal services company Dweho has taken over local sector firm Menage et Compagnie, located in Blagnac, southern France.

Status: Closed - UNICREDIT BANK AUSTRIA BUYS 10.7% IN RUSSIA'S COSMETICS MAKER KALINA UniCredit Bank Austria has bought a 10.72% interest in Russia's cosmetics and personal care products maker Kalina (RTC:KLNA), the Russian firm said, without disclosing a price.

Status: Closed - SUMOL+COMPAL TO SET UP JV IN ANGOLA Portuguese soft drinks and beer producer Sumol+Compal (ELI:SUCO) informed the country's national bourse regulator CMVM that it has inked a letter of Intent (LoI) with Angolan investment vehicle Genius to set up a joint venture.

Status: Agreed - THREE SPANISH BANKS TO OKAY MERGER ON TUESDAY Spanish savings banks Caixa Catalunya, Caixa Tarragona and Caixa Manresa are expected to announce their merger on Tuesday, after the banks' boards of directors approve the alliance.

Status: Agreed - DAISY WANTS TO BUY TELECOMMS, IT FIRMS UK telecomms company Daisy Group (LSE:DAY) is seeking to buy telecomms and IT services businesses following its recent acquisition spree, chief executive Matthew Riley said.
