Status: Speculation - SNAI CHAIRMAN TO STUDY BINDING OFFER FROM PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS Italy's gaming and betting group Snai (BIT:SNA) mandated chairman Maurizio Ughi to examine the takeover offer placed last week by private equity firms Bridgepoint Capital Ltd and Axa Investment Managers.

Status: Bidding; Speculation - YARA SAYS NO COMMENT ON RUMOURS FOR BUYING STAKE IN K+S Norway's chemicals group Yara International (OSL:YAR) said it would not comment the speculation claiming that the company was mulling the acquisition of a stake in German competitor K+S (ETR:SDF).


Status: Speculation - UREX SIGNS LOI TO SELL ARGENTINE UNIT TO URAMERICA US uranium miner Urex Energy (OTC:URXE) said it has signed a letter of intent (LOI) to sell its Argentine subsidiary, United Energy Metals (UEM), to UK mining company UrAmerica.

Status: Exclusivity - GARTNER TO BUY AMR RESEARCH FOR USD64M US IT research and advisory company Gartner (NYSE:IT) said it has inked an agreement to buy sector player AMR Research for some USD64m (EUR42.4m) in cash.

Status: Agreed - GE HEALTHCARE BUYS LIVING INDEPENDENTLY GROUP GE Healthcare, part of US diversified technology group General Electric (NYSE:GE), said it has bought Living Independently Group, the developer of the QuietCare passive monitoring system.

Status: Closed - FINNISH SAMPO MAY BOOST NORDEA STAKE EVEN IN 2009 Finnish insurer Sampo (HEL:SAMAS) may boost its holding in Sweden-based Nordea Bank (STO:NDA) already in 2009, the Finnish group's board chairman Bjorn Wahlroos said.

Status: Bidding - ICF INTERNATIONAL TO BUY JACOB & SUNDSTROM US consulting firm ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI) said it has entered a final agreement to buy information technology security firm Jacob & Sundstrom for an undisclosed price.

Status: Agreed - SONOCO CLOSES ACQUISITION OF ASSETS FROM ECONOREEL CORP US packaging specialist Sonoco (NYSE:SON) has finalised the acquisition of the injection molded plastics spools and reels assets of Utah-based EconoReel Corporation for an undisclosed amount, the company said.

Status: Closed - DUTCH IMTECH ANNOUNCES TWO ACQUISITIONS IN SPAIN Dutch engineering group Imtech (AMS:IM) announced the acquisition of Spanish electrotechnical specialists Huguet Levante and Huguet Mantenimiento.

Status: Closed - EU GREENLIGHTS ARCELORMITTAL'S BUY INTO UTTAM GALVA The European Commission gave the go-ahead today to ArcelorMittal Netherlands BV, a unit of Luxembourg-based steel giant ArcelorMittal (AMS:MT), to take over Indian cold rolled steel maker Uttam Galva Steels (BOM:513216) saying the deal would not impede competition.

Status: Agreed - US STATE STREET TO BUY MIFA US financial service provider State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT) said it has agreed to buy Mourant International Finance Administrat Status: Agreed - STAY SAFE SOLUTIONS BUYS DOCUMENT SHREDDING, RECYCLING OPS OF PRIDE INDUSTRIES US business solution and service provider Stay Safe Solutions said that its affiliate company, Stay Safe Shred and Recycle, has acquired the document destruction business of outsourcing solution company PRIDE Industries.

Status: Closed - DUTCH SYNVEST NOT TO BUY BOUWHUIS' FUNDS Dutch property investor Synvest Fund Management said it would not take over the management of the six Bouw State Bond Funds of local real estate company Bouwhuis Groep.

Status: Terminated - US SANDRIDGE TO BUY FOREST OIL ASSETS FOR USD800M US SandRidge Energy (NYSE:SD) said it has agreed to buy Permian Basin oil and gas properties from home Forest Oil (NYSE:FST) for USD800m (EUR533.2m).

Status: Agreed - US EXPRESS SCRIPTS COMPLETES NEXTRX BUY FOR USD4.68BN US pharmacy benefit management (PBM) company Express Scripts (NASDAQ:ESRX) has wrapped up the buy of NextRx, the drug benefit operations of health insurance group WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) for USD4.68bn (EUR3.104bn).

Status: Closed - CHINESE GEELY APPLIES FOR LOANS TO FINANCE VOLVO CARS BID Chinese Geely Automobile Holding (HKG:0175) is asking loans of at least USD1bn (EUR663m) from Chinese banks to secure its USD1.8bn bid for Swedish Volvo Cars.

Status: Bidding - AVNET CLOSES BUY OF SUNSHINE IN VIETNAM US electronic components and computer products distributor Avnet (NYSE: AVT) said it has bought certain assets of IT distributor Sunshine in Vietnam, for an undisclosed price.

Status: Closed - GLOBALTRANS TO BUY CONTROLLING STAKE IN RIVAL CO FOR USD250M Russia's largest privately owned freight rail operator Globaltrans Investment (LON:GLTR) said it would acquire a controlling stake in competitor BaltTransServis for USD250m (EUR166m) in a bid to strengthen its presence in the oil transport sector.

Status: Agreed - SPANISH ZARDOYA BUYS OUT OTIS MAROC Spanish elevator maker and operator Zardoya Otis (MCE:ZOT) has bought the remaining stake of 49% in sector firm Otis Maroc, that it did not own, the buyer told the local stock market operator CNMV.

Status: Closed - POLARIS INTL CLOSES JAPANESE ACQUISITION American-Japanese IT outsourcing services provider Polaris International (PINK:PIHN) said it has completed the acquisition of the IT services business of Japanese sector player Polaris Technologies for USD100,000 (EUR66,000) in cash.

Status: Closed - CANADA'S GLV OWNS 83.08% OF AUSTRIAN CWT'S VOTING RIGHTS Canada-based technological solutions provider GLV (TSE:GLV.B) has acquired 16.3 million shares or 83.08% of the voting rights of Austrian water technologies specialist Christ Water Technology (WBAG:CWT) as part of its voluntary takeover bid.

Status: Closed - MACQUARIE WRAPS UP FOX-PITT KELTON COCHRAN CARONIA WALLER BUY Australian financial service company Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) said it has closed the purchase of US investment bank Fox-Pitt Kelton Cochran Caronia Waller (FPK), but did not reveal the financial details of the deal.

Status: Closed - ANGLO-DANISH G4S ACQUIRES HILL & ASSOCIATES CONSULTANTS Anglo-Danish security service group G4S (LON:GFS,CPH:G4S) has acquired risk mitigation specialist Hill & Associates Consultants, operating in Asia, in line with its strategy to provide high-end risk consulting services to financial institutions and corporate multi-nationals.

Status: Closed - EUROTUNNEL TAKES OVER VEOLIA CARGO'S FRENCH OPS Channel Tunnel operator Eurotunnel (EPA:GET) said it has finalised the acquisition of the French operations of Veolia Cargo, a unit of French water and wastewater group Veolia Environnement (EPA:VIE).

Status: Closed - SWEDISH SECURITAS BUYS CZECH DORA SECURITY Swedish security services group Securitas (STO:SECU B) said it has bought Czech sector firm Dora Security, whose enterprise value is estimated at SEK92m (USD13.2m/EUR8.8m).

Status: Closed - DEUTSCHE BOERSE GETS 75% PLUS ONE SHARE IN TRADEGATE German stock exchange operator Deutsche Boerse (ETR:DB1) said it has agreed to buy 75% plus one share of Berlin-based multilateral trade facility (MTF) Tradegate Exchange effective from 8 January for an undisclosed amount.

Status: Agreed - GREENE KING TO BUY SEVEN SCOTTISH PUBS FROM MITCHELLS & BUTLERS British pub operator and brewer Greene King (LON:GNK) has inked a deal to acquire seven pubs in Scotland from domestic sector player Mitchells & Butlers (LON:MAB) for GBP12.7m (USD20.9m/EUR13.9m), it said in a statement.

Status: Agreed - GREEN PLANET WRAPS UP BUY OF BIG SKY LENDING US company Green Planet Group (OTC:GNPG) said it has closed the purchase of financial services firm Big Sky Lending for an undisclosed price.

Status: Closed - MANAGED SUPPORT SERVICES BUYS BUILDING SERVICES PROVIDER FOR GBP4M Britain's heating and cooling equipment specialist Managed Support Services (LON:MSS) has bought home technical building services group Status Building Services for GBP3.7m (USD6.1m/EUR4m) in cash, GBP700,000 of which payable in mid-2010, the company said in a statement.

Status: Closed - AHLENS TO TERMINATE DEAL WITH RNB Swedish retailer Ahlens will not finalise the purchase of RNB Retail and Brands' (STO:RNBS) operations at the NK department stores, both companies said.

Status: Terminated - GIESECKE & DEVRIENT BUYS OUT FINNISH VENYON German banknote supplier and smartcard provider Giesecke & Devrient said it has acquired the stake of Finnish handset maker Nokia (HEL:NOK1V) in Venyon Oy, thus becoming the sole shareholder of the mobile trusted service manager.

Status: Closed - JARDINE LLOYD TAKES OVER HSBC ACTUARIES AND CONSULTANTS UK risk specialist and employee benefits consultant Jardine Lloyd Thompson (LON:JLT) said it has acquired domestic peer HSBC Actuaries and Consultants (HACL) for GBP27.25m (USD44.7m/EUR29.8m) in cash.

Status: Closed - ITALIAN BULGARI DEPUTY CHAIRMAN DISPOSES OF 1.33% STAKE The deputy chairman and shareholder in Italian luxury jewellery maker Bulgari (BIT:BUL), Nicola Bulgari, has sold a 1.33% stake, or four million shares, to Italian and foreign institutional investors.

Status: Closed - SWISS SARASIN WANTS TO BUY GERMAN BHF-BANK Swiss private bank Sarasin (SWF:BSAN) has expressed interest in buying BHF-Bank, part of German peer Sal. Oppenheim, Sarasin's management board member Eric Sarasin said.

Status: Bidding - GAZPROM NEFT TO ACQUIRE MALKA OIL'S PRODUCTION UNIT FOR USD118M Russia's Gazprom Neft (MCX:SIBN) said it has struck a deal to buy STS-Service, the production unit of Swedish oil and gas group Malka Oil (STO:MALK), for USD118m (EUR78.7m).

Status: Agreed - BROADCOM TO BUY US DUNE NETWORKS FOR USD178M US chipmaker Broadcom (NASDAQ:BRCM) said it has agreed to buy US privately held fabless semiconductor supplier Dune Networks for some USD178m (EUR118.6m) in cash in a move to strengthen its network equipment portfolio.

Status: Agreed - CONSTELLATION ENERGY TO BUY WIND PROJECT IN MARYLAND FROM CLIPPER WINDPOWER US energy products and service supplier Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) said it has agreed to buy the Criterion wind project in Garrett County, Maryland, from UK wind turbine maker Clipper Windpower (LON:CWP).

Status: Agreed - GO-AHEAD COMPLETES PLYMOUTH CITYBUS ACQUISITION UK's passenger transport operator Go-Ahead Group (LON:GOG) announced it has closed the acquisition of Plymouth CityBus from Plymouth City Council for an enterprise value of GBP20m (USD32.8m/EUR21.9m) in cash.

Status: Closed - CANADIAN COSSETTE ACCEPTS MILL ROAD SWEETENED OFFER Canadian advertising agency Cossette (TSE:KOS) said it has accepted a raised offer from US private equity firm Mill Road Capital.

Status: Bidding - WESTMINSTER SAYS NOT TO MAKE OFFER FOR PENTAGON PROTECTION UK security and defence solutions provider Westminster Group (LON:WSG) said it would not make an offer to acquire protective windows maker Pentagon Protection (LON:PPR).

Status: Terminated - GE, VIVENDI AGREE ON NBC UNIVERSAL STAKE VALUATION US General Electric (NYSE:GE) and French media company Vivendi (EPA:VIV) have reached an agreement in principle to value Vivendi's 20% stake in NBC Universal at USD5.8bn (EUR3.87bn).

Status: Speculation - CVS TO TAKE OVER HOME VETERINARY CENTRE UK veterinary services provider CVS (LON:CVSG) announced it has agreed to acquire the Rees Veterinary Centre in Warrington in a move to further enhance its presence in the region.

Status: Agreed - BILLIONAIRE LEWIS MULLS OVER BUYING UK ALPHAMERIC Billionaire investor Joe Lewis is considering a takeover bid for UK bookmaking-technology firm Alphameric (LON:ALM) as early as Tuesday via Mayfair Capital Investments.

Status: Speculation - US MERBANCO, RENCO GROUP ALSO EYE SWEDISH SAAB AUTOMOBILE US investment bank Merbanco and holding company Renco Group are also interested in buying struggling Swedish car maker Saab Automobile, in addition to Beijing Automotive Industry Holding (BAIC).

Status: Bidding; Speculation - EU EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR REVIEW OF BILFINGER-MCE DEAL European Union's (EU) competition regulator said it has extended until 18 December the deadline for its review of the takeover of Austrian plant builder MCE by German construction company Bilfinger Berger (ETR:GBF).

Status: Delayed - RUSSIAN ARMZ TO PLACE HOSTILE BID FOR CANADIAN KHAN RESOURCES Canadian mineral miner Khan Resources (TSE:KRI) said it was informed that Russian nuclear energy corporation ARMZ plans to make an unsolicited offer for the company for CAD0.65 (USD0.62/EUR0.4).

Status: Bidding - SPAIN'S PRISA IN TALKS TO SELL DIGITAL+ STAKES Spanish media group Promotora de Informaciones (MCE:PRS), or Prisa, is negotiating the sale of additional stakes in its satellite TV platform Digital+ to potential investors.

Status: Talks - PERMASTEELISA BOARD APPROVES TERRE ALTE TAKEOVER BID The management board of Italian building cladding company Permasteelisa (BIT:PMS) has approved the takeover bid of Terre Alte for all of the company's outstanding shares.

Status: Bidding - SAAB IN TALKS WITH POTENTIAL BUYERS Sweedish carmaker Saab, put up for sale by US parent General Motors (GM), is in talks over a deal with at least two potential buyers, after local sports-car maker Koenigsegg abandoned negotiations last week.

Status: Speculation; Talks - BAIC MAY STILL BE INTERESTED IN BUYING SAAB Chinese carmaker Beijing Automotive Industry Holding may still be interested in bidding for Swedish carmaker Saab owned by US General Motors (GM).

Status: Bidding - ING SAYS, SPANISH REPSOL TO SELL PART OF GAS NATURAL STAKE, BRAZILIAN OPS Spanish oil and gas company Repsol (MCE:REP) could sell part of its 30% stake in home gas giant Gas Natural (MCE:GAS), or give up part of its assets in Brazil in a move to ensure long-term growth.

Status: Speculation; Auction - SOUTHEAST US HONGS BIDS FOR DUTCH DIM VASTGOED Southeast US Holdings, part of US Equity One (NYSE:EQY) has made a public takeover bid for all outstanding shares of Dutch real estate company DIM Vastgoed (AMS:DIMVA).

Status: Bidding - OAKTREE CAPITAL MULLING TO TAKE OVER ALMATIS LA-based private equity firm Oaktree Capital is anticipated to submit a takeover bid for German alumina producer Almatis through a proposal to restructure its USD1bn (EUR664m) debt.

Status: Speculation; Bidding - DEUTSCHE BOERSE LIKELY TO PULL OUT FROM WSE PRIVATISATION German stock market operator Deutsche Boerse (ETR:DB1) is planning to drop its bid for the acquisition of a controlling stake in the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE).

Status: Bidding; Speculation - SHELL EXTENDS TALKS WITH ESSAR OVER THREE REFINERIES SALE Royal Dutch Shell (LON:RDSA) said its exclusive talks with Indian oil and gas group Essar Oil (BOM:500134) concerning the sale of three refineries would continue despite the expiration of the deadline.

Status: Talks - HEINEKEN EYES BUYS IN BEER SECTOR CONSOLIDATION - CEO Dutch brewer Heineken NV (AMS:HEIA) plans to take part in the consolidation of the beer market, as it expects a quarter of the market to be bought by the top four global players.

Status: Bidding - FRENCH BANK BPCE WILL SELL ASSETS TO RAISE EUR5BN TO RESCUE NATIXIS UNIT French banking group BPCE will have to dispose of assets to raise the EUR5bn (USD7.53bn) it needs to rescue its Natixis (EPA:KN) investment bank unit.

Status: Speculation; Auction - MURDOCH'S ILLYRIA, PLURIBUS CAPITAL TO BID FOR TRADE MAGAZINES Lachlan Murdoch, son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, is nearing a deal to buy a group of trade magazines, including Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter, from US publisher Nielsen Business Media.

Status: Speculation; Bidding - IBM TO BUY ISRAELI GUARDIUM FOR USD225M US technology giant IBM (NYSE:IBM) is set to announce this week the takeover of Israeli database security start-up Guardium for USD225m (EUR150.4m).

Status: Speculation - IRISH PAN ANDEAN SEEN TO CLOSE ASSET SALE EARLY THIS WEEK Irish oil and gas producer PAN Andean (LON:PRE) is expected to close early this week the sale of its assets in Peru and Colombia.

Status: Speculation; Talks - CADBURY SIGNALS SUPPORT FOR A POTENTIAL BID FROM US HERSHEY UK confectionery company Cadbury (LON:CBRY) has signalled support for a possible alliance with US chocolate maker Hershey (NYSE:HSY).
