LG releases Windows-based smartphone in U.S.

SEOUL, Nov 21, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) --
LG Electronics Inc., the world's fifth-largest mobile phone manufacturer, said Thursday it has released a smartphone in the U.S. that operates on Microsoft Corp.'s mobile operating system.

The LG-CT810, nicknamed Incite, has a 3-inch full-touch display, runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and supports a variety of PC-quality multimedia functionalities, such as Internet connectivity and music player and document-editing functions.



The model, released Wednesday (local time) through AT&T Inc., the largest U.S. phone company, sells for US$199.99 with a two-year contract.

LG Electronics, which also makes home appliances, counts on handsets for 40 percent of its revenue. Third quarter profit from its wireless business more than doubled to 384.3 billion won ($269.4 million) from last year.
