Levanta Beefs Up Management Team in Preparation for Expansion Into Data Center Automation

SAN MATEO, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Levanta(R) (www.levanta.com), the leader in Linux data center automation, today announced several new additions to its management team. Eric Gries, Anil Uberoi, and Frank Calderon come on board to Levanta as CEO, CMO, and vice president of sales, respectively. Gries, Uberoi, and Calderon join current CFO Dan Lee and vice president of engineering Madhur Kohli.

"As Linux moves into mainstream business-critical deployments, customers are looking for sophisticated enterprise-grade system management solutions for Linux," said Eric Gries, CEO of Levanta. "We see significant opportunities for Levanta's best-of-breed, turnkey solutions that seamlessly manage physical and virtual Linux environments. With products that have already been proven as cost- effective ways to manage Linux servers, we are well-positioned to capitalize on the continued growth of Linux in enterprise data centers, joining the ranks of other data center heavy hitters like BladeLogic and OpsWare."

Levanta's new executives will leverage their extensive experience in providing market-leading enterprise solutions to help guide Levanta in its expansion into data center automation.

"Market research shows that the systems management costs are growing at four times the expense of server hardware and that systems management costs now represent 60% of the total costs of running a data center," said Anil Uberoi, chief marketing officer at Levanta. "For enterprises running Linux in the data center, the relative systems management costs are even higher, mitigating most, if not all, of the TCO advantages associated with running Linux on commodity hardware. For most of our customers the Levanta solutions have paid for themselves, in direct savings, in less than 20 weeks."

Earlier, Anil led marketing for the Networking Products Group (including the network management platform) at Sun Microsystems.

Dan Lee- CFO

Prior to joining Levanta, Dan Lee was the Corporate Controller for Wind River Systems, where he orchestrated the financial aspects of a $102 million public offering and a $140 million convertible offering, resulting in a $1 billion market capitalization.
