LeFlore County: Bonds To Finance Public Health Site
Feb 14, 2012 (Times Record - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The LeFlore County Public Buildings Authority and Board of Commissioners approved a lease agreement Monday that clears the way for financing for a planned county Public Health Department building.
According to meeting records, the commissioners authorized executing a site lease to aid in financing a new 20,000-square-foot building through the Oklahoma Development Finance Authority, said Gina Rogers, deputy clerk with the County Clerk's Office.
The county clerk serves as secretary for the Board of Commissioners' meetings. The commissioners also comprise the Public Buildings Authority.
The lease resolution asks the state Development Finance Authority to issue bonds for the design, construction and equipping of the planned Public Health facility.
The new facility would replace the aging facility at Poteau.
Rogers said the county already owns the land, and the agreement has been reviewed by legal counsel.
Under the agreement, the Oklahoma Development Finance Authority would serve as sublessor and the LeFlore County Public Buildings Authority and Commission would serve as sublessee on behalf of the LeFlore County Public Health Department, with the Public Buildings Authority serving as property (lessor) owner.
Commission Chairman Lance Smith could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.
