LeadQual finds new home in Stratford

Nov 18, 2009 (Connecticut Post - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- An area company has gone east to accommodate its growing work force.

LeadQual, an Internet marketing firm with offices in Connecticut and Emeryville, Calif., recently moved from 64 Wall St. in Norwalk to 8,240 square feet in a 55,250-square-foot office building at 300 Long Beach Blvd. in Stratford Executive Park. The space was at one time occupied by ADP.

The move last month came at the perfect time for LeadQual.

"We were bursting at the seams. We had 45 employees in Norwalk and less than half that a year ago," said Andrew Coleman, co-founder of the business with Glenn Houck. "It's a contact center. We respond to Internet leads. We qualify them and transfer them to our clients' sales teams." The company, which signed a three-year lease with options, has 60 employees at its Connecticut and California facilities.

Coleman said he and Houck wanted to find a location that would make the daily commute easier for their employees, most of whom live in greater Bridgeport.

"You get more for your money there, and there's bus service that drops you off right in front," said Coleman, whose company was represented in its property search by George Bagley and Paul Tortora of the Stamford office of Jones Lang LaSalle Americas Inc.

Located near Interstate 95 and Lordship Boulevard, the building owned by Stratford Development Co. is easily accessible for employees and clients, according to Bagley.

"The firm required flexible space for future expansion options, 24/7 operating capability and high-speed Internet connectivity. This space fulfills all the firm's specific requirements," he said.

The building provides the opportunity for growth, said James Caissy, president of Stratford Development, which operates nine buildings totalling 650,000 square feet in the park.

"They came shopping for 5,000 square feet, and we designed a lease so they could grow their business there," he said. "It was a perfect match." The arrival of LeadQual is an indication of the viability of the Bridgeport area's business climate, said Paul Timpanelli, president of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, which counts the Stratford Chamber of Commerce as an affiliate member.

"It's a significant plus. These days there aren't many companies taking the risk to lease that amount of space," he said.
