Leading Policymakers and Executives Will Discuss Internet of the Future, Virtualized Communications and More at TIA 2015 Network of the Future Event in Dallas, June 1-4


The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA (News - Alert)), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, announced today that top technology executives from Dell, xo Communications, Fujitsu (News - Alert) and ADTRAN will take part in the annual TIA CTO Roundtable on June 4 during the organization's upcoming conference. TIA 2015: Network of the Future will take place June 1 to 4 in Dallas, TX and will feature keynotes, educational presentations and special events highlighting the technical, policy and business issues facing the communications companies and their customers.

TIA 2015 will also feature keynote presentations from top executives at Verizon, AT&T, General Motors, NTT, Sprint and others, along with leading policymakers, such as FCC Commissioners Mignon Clyburn and Michael O'Rielly. During four days of debate and discussion, TIA 2015 will also include panel presentations and workshops involving executives from Intel, Google, Ericsson, Oppenheimer & Co., The Brinks Company, Monsanto, EP Energy, Baker Hughes (News - Alert), GM OnStar, T-Mobile, Cisco, Juniper Networks, CenturyLink, Power & Tel, GENBAND, SK Telecom, Kroger, Accenture, and many others.

In addition to the keynotes and panel discussions, TIA 2015 will feature several specific events that bring an intensive focus to critical technology issues:

CTO Roundtable (Thursday, June 4): Leading technologists from top companies will discuss the continued transformation of the network as it accommodates some 50 billion connected devices, along with the changes brought on by the Internet of Things and virtualization. The Roundtable, which will be moderated by TIA's Chief Technology Officer, Franklin Flint, includes:

Cuba Breakfast (Thursday, June 4): The race is on for tech companies to invest in Cuba after President Obama's landmark decision to ease trade restrictions. An opportunity now exists to leap over five generations of telecommunications technology and build out a modern, robust system. In addition to addressing the opportunities, speakers will also look at the challenges - from Congressional action to regulatory ambiguities - during the breakfast that kicks off Policy Day (learn more about Policy Day here). The event will feature Dr. Margaret Crahan, Senior Research Scholar and Director, Cuba Program, Columbia University Institute for Latin American Studies, as well as Timothy Finton, Senior Counselor for International Communications and Information Policy, U.S. Department of State, and Kirk Laughlin, Managing Director of Nearshore Americas. During the breakfast, Mr. Laughlin will release a new report titled Cuba Outlook: Assessing the Country's Appetite for ICT Transformation. This report will answer fundamental questions about Cuba's IT and telecom readiness - from how the government is viewing the need for Internet services to Cuban citizens to an analysis of options in the current monopolistic framework.



Cybersecurity Breakfast (Wednesday, June 3): Cybersecurity and privacy professionals representing service providers, over-the-top content providers, enterprise and suppliers will discuss critical issues such as information sharing on cyber threats, efforts to mitigate risks of security breaches, and the responsibility of the ICT industry to adopt privacy practices protecting end user information. Speakers include:

Internet of Things Lunch (Tuesday, June 2): As the Internet of Things gives rise to an entire ecosystem of interconnected devices, systems, and data, it is having a dramatic impact on the future for telecommunications and the world economy. Participants will address both the ways in which the Internet of Things is transforming healthcare, transportation, energy, manufacturing, and government, and the many network challenges and questions of privacy and security that it raises. This event will feature a presentation and demonstration by Fred Yentz, President and CEO, ILS Technology, a Telit company.


In addition to the IoT Luncheon, TIA's conference focuses heavily on M2M and Internet of Things throughout the program, including a Pre-Conference Showcase and Workshop on June 1. The oneM2M Workshop and Showcase will explore how the global oneM2M interoperable standard is being deployed through presentations and demonstrations throughout the day.
