Leading Mathematics Education Innovator Gina Burkhardt Joins DreamBox Learning Advisory Board

Burkhardt brings more than 25 years of forward-thinking, research-based education leadership to DreamBox Learning's award-winning curriculum and Intelligent Adaptive Learning™ technology to meet student learning needs in grades K-8. The appointment of Burkhardt affirms DreamBox Learning's commitment to the highest quality instructional programs, as well as supporting educators with continued efficacy and research to further inform teacher practice and implementation models.

A lifelong educator, Burkhardt is known for her research-based approach to educational reform and dedication to education improvement, having consulted nationally and internationally on education policy, practice, and system design. As the current President and CEO of Jobs for the Future, Burkhardt leads the national not-for-profit organization in preparing underserved young people with the skills and credentials needed to succeed in higher education and the workforce. Prior to Jobs for the Future, Burkhardt was the executive vice president of American Institutes for Research (AIR), one of the largest not-for-profit behavioral and social science research organizations in the world, where she was responsible for more than 500 employees and a $100million annual budget.

  • Dr. Francis Fennell, Professor of Education at McDaniel College in Maryland - An award-winning educator recognized by the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, Fennell is widely-published in professional journals and textbooks related to PreK-8 mathematics education.
  • Dr. Catherine Twomey Fosnot, Professor of Childhood Education at the City College of New York and Director of Mathematics in the City - A nationally-acclaimed educator and author, Fosnot is a two-time recipient of the American Educational Research Association's Significant Contribution award and was the 2005 recipient of the Teacher of the Year award from CCNY.
  • Julie Young, Principal at Julie Young Consulting, LLC - With more than three decades of education experience, Young has received numerous awards including the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education, been selected as one of Technology & Learning Top 30 Influencers in Ed Tech, and inducted into the United States Distance Learning Association Hall of Fame. Young is a proponent for the potential blended learning has in raising student achievement.
  • Crystal Brown, Chief Communications Officer at University of Maryland - Brown brings more than 15 years of deep experience directing communication strategies for some of the nation's leading education-focused corporations, non-profit organizations and foundations. She currently serves as the chairperson of the Board of Directors for the National Education Association Foundation.
