Latest SoundHound Update Features Auto-Playlist Creation in Rdio and Dramatic Speed Improvements

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

SoundHound Inc., the revolutionary sound search company, today launched an update to its globally popular music and sound search applications on iOS and Android (News - Alert) devices, highlighted by the introduction of "Connect to Rdio," a new feature that will allow users to have newly discovered songs automatically populate in a specially designated SoundHound playlist in Rdio, a leading global digital streaming music service with over 25 million songs.

As part of the update, SoundHound users will also notice a significant increase in speed of returned search results, in some cases as quickly as one second.

"With today's updates and the Connect to Rdio feature, SoundHound is further established as the entry point for music enthusiasts seeking an amazing mobile music experience," said Katie McMahon, Vice President & General Manager at SoundHound Inc. "We offer our users the opportunity to not only discover new songs and artists but, through partnerships, the instant gratification of having music seamlessly added to their personal libraries, there for consumption at any point in time. Our users have responded in a overwhelmingly positive way to the notion of auto-playlist creation and we are thrilled to extend this capability through an expanded partnership with Rdio."

Upon updating, existing SoundHounders will now see a plus sign (+) in the results page the next time they identify a song. When tapped, the set-up page for the Connect to Rdio is opened. Users who already have an Rdio account can opt to begin having songs they discover or search for through SoundHound added automatically to their SoundHound playlist within Rdio. SoundHounders who do not have an Rdio account will be prompted to download the Rdio app from their respective app store and set-up n account before returning to SoundHound to complete the connection. Once the Connect to Rdio feature is enabled, all songs identified through SoundHound will be automatically added to the user's SoundHound playlist inside Rdio, all without leaving SoundHound.

New SoundHound users will be asked if they want to activate Connect to Rdio during the initial registration process. All Connect to Rdio feature users must be registered SoundHounders.

"We are always looking for additional ways to enable music discovery for our listeners," said Chris Becherer, SVP of Product at Rdio. "We're excited to be working with the SoundHound team to create a dynamic listening experience around songs identified in the real world, right inside Rdio."
