NAZE, Japan - The camellia weevil, a very rare type of weevil known for its markedly long snout, has been successfully photographed on Japan's southwestern Yakushima Island, according to a pair of experts.

Takaaki Nakata, 51, a resident park ranger on the Kagoshima Prefecture island, and his associate have photographed a camellia weevil actually perched on a camellia tree, which is a very rare sight, he said.

BELGRADE - Montenegro will vote May 21 on whether the small Balkan republic will declare independence, or remain in the present union with Serbia, the parliament approved Thursday.

The decision on the referendum date and conditions was made unanimously by all of the 68 present legislators in the 75-member House.

---------- BOJ plans to mull ending quantitative monetary policy on March 8-9

TOKYO - The Bank of Japan plans to weigh the possibility of ending its "quantitative" monetary easing policy in specific terms at its board meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, informed sources said Thursday night.

The central bank's plans stems from the view that the Japanese economy will follow a sustainable recovery path, making it almost certain that it will extricate itself out of deflation, the sources said.
