Kodak's ScanMate i1120 scanners chosen by financial advisor IFS

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Imaging and technology company Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK)
announced on Friday (29 August) that Independent Financial Services
Limited (IFS), a UK firm of independent financial advisors, has
purchased ScanMate i1120 duplex scanners.

According to the company, IFS purchased 100 Kodak ScanMate i1120
scanners for its branches across the UK, to complement two higher end
devices which were previously bought. In a phased roll out, this means
that a ScanMate unit will be installed on practically every staff desk.

The scanners reportedly come with a software bundle including NUANCE
ScanSoft PaperPort 11 software, which allows the firm's staff at each
office to scan all historic paperwork and current client documentation.
Advisors scan paperwork into client specific folders and this
documentation is captured automatically on a weekly basis using a
bespoke application called IFS DB Manager, which in turn populates a
Microsoft Office Access database solution.

The process of moving away from paper to a computer-based approach to
file management has allowed IFS to improve efficiency and remove paper
cluttering in its offices. Using all its scanner equipment, staff have
disposed of 30,000 historic files after they have been scanned, a

workload equating to 18,000 scans per day over a 3 month period, the
company said.

ScanMate i1120 scanners enable one or two sided scanning in black and
white, greyscale and colour and are designed to handle 20 pages per
minute, with image resolution up to 600dpi. They feature a 50 page
feeder, pre-set and customisable shortcuts, as well as Kodak's Perfect
Page image-processing technology, which has features to de-skew and
crop images, along with dynamic iThresholding to adjust the brightness
and contrast of documents.

The scanners were sold by online reseller, BMI Solutions, in a deal
worth approximately GBP30,000.
