Kids need coding [Deseret News (UT)]

(Deseret News (UT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) It is apparent that we need to teach youth computer science, so why are classes not being offered in our public school systems? With the growing amount of tech companies coming to Utah, shouldn't we focus on getting students ready for those jobs? I'm 30 and was never offered any computer related courses until I was in college. Understanding computer programming terminology in an ever-growing tech world is just as important as reading and writing. Every business needs a website, phone app and someone who knows how to compete in the online market. As the new generation grows up and the older generations fade away, technology will become more relevant in every business.

I've been looking for a program for my children to get involved in and found a great school called Simply Coding. They focus on teaching young students computer science one-on-one in a classroom environment much like a math lab. We need to prepare Utah students for future jobs here in Utah.
