Kansas City Citizens Receive Enhanced Service from Local Government

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 18 September 2014 Release date- 17092014 - NEW YORK -Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 73,000 customers, today announced that the Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department (WSD), has successfully upgraded to the latest version of the Infor Public Sector Suite (Hansen).

As the first phase of a three part project, the largest city in Missouri is now live on the suite's asset and work management applications. The city is a long-time Infor customer and elected to upgrade to benefit from Infor's recent industry-specific functionality. The WSD's information technology group also believed that moving to a web-based architecture would better prepare the city for future growth by providing the flexibility to expand its use of the system or integrate new applications.

'We encourage customers like Kansas City to embrace the latest technology from Infor because it delivers a multitude of capabilities built with the evolving needs of today's public agencies in mind,' said Kevin Curry, senior vice president, Public Sector, Infor. 'Building a long-term relationship also means we have insight into the way the city operates, which allows us to work collaboratively to create a technology environment that focuses on their particular objectives.' The latest version of the Infor Public Sector Suite allows the WSD to manage critical tasks within a unified system, providing department-wide visibility into processes and data. Access to information helps managers identify areas for increased efficiency and promotes more effective reporting and analysis by allowing users to drill down into data to derive actionable insights.

The city currently utilizes a standalone system for inventory management, which requires the WSD to manually synchronize inventory data in two systems. The Infor Public Sector Suite will integrate inventory and work orders to automate processing and facilitate faster fulfillment of maintenance needs. The suite's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) functionality is also integrated, which will allow users to view maps and pinpoint locations for work orders directly within the system.

The city plans to deploy a mobile platform to provide users in the field with access to the Infor solution, which will allow service employees to receive and complete work orders in real-time directly from a mobile device or tablet. This is designed to expedite work order fulfillment and enable improved service to residents through faster communication between the office and field employees.

'Kansas City Water Services is a data-driven utility, and this project was an important part of our efforts to improve service to our customers,' said Rob Thiemann, project manager, Kansas City Water Services. 'We have already experienced positive changes in workflow management through the enhancement of data and reporting systems.'
