Kainos: Kainos Helps RICS Make Surveyor Case Handling More Transparent
(M2 PressWIRE Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)
RDATE:30012008
London -- Kainos, a leading IT consulting company, today announced the
successful completion of a project that will help the Royal Institution
of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) comply with new legislation relating to
how UK surveyors' firms are regulated. Kainos helped RICS design and
implement a case management solution that makes the investigation and
handling of cases brought against surveyors' firms more transparent and
consistent.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is the leading
organisation of its kind in the world for professionals in property,
land, construction and related environmental issues. As part of its
role, it helps to set, maintain and regulate standards. It has 140,000
members, operating out of 146 countries and regulates some 12,000
surveyor firms across the UK. Under new legislation RICS was required
to change the way it regulated these firms, making the investigation
and handling of cases brought against surveyors more transparent and
consistent. RICS needed to implement new processes and systems to
support this regulatory change.
RICS commissioned Kainos to help design a new system that would enable
it to manage and track all case-related documents and correspondence,
including emails, faxes, letters and phone calls. The solution
comprises a repository for storage of documents from the leading EDRM
product vendor, Meridio, a scanning tool from Kofax to convert
documents from paper-based to electronic format, and an email gateway
for efficient routing of inbound emails. Kainos helped RICS to
implement the solution and designed a customised user interface that
seamlessly integrates with existing RICS systems. Today RICS staff, in
any given location, can have easy access to the most up-to-date and
relevant case information and can provide a higher level of service,
responding to queries quickly and consistently. The case documentation
is linked by firm, member and ID and provides a very transparent and
audit proof system for tracking case information and supporting
documentation, in compliance with the new regulations.
Commenting on the project, Jon Freeman, Senior Project Manager, RICS
said, "Kainos worked with us as our partners and were professional and
responsive. We were impressed by their extensive knowledge of the
Meridio product. The case management solution has taken the complexity
out of the regulation process and has resulted in better service
delivery and a more effective operation."
According to Brian Reid, Sales Director at Kainos, "Public sector
organisations such as RICS tend to have a high volume of paper-based
documents and correspondence, making them prime candidates for
solutions of this nature. Not only can this type of solution transform
an organisation in terms of more efficient internal operations and
improved customer service, but it can also provide proof of regulatory
compliance. Kainos has been successfully building and delivering these
types of solutions for public and private sector clients in the UK and
Ireland, and our consultants have developed a specialist capability in
deploying the technology to deliver real business value. We are
delighted that RICS is already seeing the early benefits of the system."
