J:COM implements NETGEAR's new DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless-N Cable Gateway

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Networking solutions provider NETGEAR Inc (Nasdaq:NTGR) announced on Thursday that Japanese multiple system operator (MSO) Jupiter Telecommunications Co Ltd (J:COM) is the first customer to deploy its new DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless-N Cable Gateway (CG3200D) for cable operators.

No financial details were disclosed.

NETGEAR said its CG3200D enables J:COM to offer up to 160Mb/s data services as a differentiated offering in the competitive Japanese residential broadband market.

The CG3200D supports DOCSIS 3.0 channel bonding, which results in data rates of up to 160Mb/s downstream and 120Mb/s upstream. The gateway supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and is also backwards compatible with DOCSIS 2.0 and DOCSIS 1.1.

The product supports remote management and provisioning, plug-in installation and post-installation manageability with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). In addition, it offers 802.11n wireless and Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, allowing users to take full advantage of their high-speed WAN and LAN connections.
